🌿 Get outside — passer du temps dehors.
Notre organisme est fait pour interagir avec un environnement naturel, bouger et recevoir des variations de lumière, de température et de stimuli sensoriels. Sortir favorise naturellement l’activité physique et le contact avec la nature est associé à une diminution du stress.

☀️ Sun exposure — s’exposer à la lumière naturelle.
La lumière du jour, particulièrement le matin, est un signal majeur pour notre rythme circadien. Elle aide notre cerveau à synchroniser l’éveil pendant la journée et la production de mélatonine le soir, avec des effets sur le sommeil, l’énergie et l’humeur. L’exposition solaire permet aussi à la peau de synthétiser de la vitamine D tout en évitant évidemment les coups de soleil et les expositions excessives.

🌍 Grounding — contact direct avec le sol.
Marcher pieds nus sur l’herbe, le sable ou la terre peut être intéressant pour une autre raison très concrète : cela augmente les informations sensorielles venant des pieds, sollicite leur musculature et nous expose à des surfaces variées. Grounding/earthing aurait probablement des effets positifs grâce au transfert d’électrons de la Terre.

Notre bien-être ne dépend pas uniquement de ce que nous faisons pendant une heure d’entraînement. Il dépend aussi de l’environnement auquel notre organisme est exposé quotidiennement.

Pain is one of the most misunderstood phenomena in modern healthcare.

Most people assume the painful tissue is the problem. If the knee hurts, treat the knee. If the shoulder hurts, treat the shoulder. If the low back hurts, treat the low back. But pain is often nothing more than the location where your body has finally run out of ways to compensate.

Your body is an interconnected mechanical system. Every step you take, every breath you breathe, and every movement you make requires force to be distributed efficiently through your entire structure. When one region stops contributing appropriately, another region is forced to absorb more stress than it was designed to handle. Over time, those compensations accumulate until the tissues can no longer tolerate the load. That’s when pain appears.

Pain isn’t always the beginning of the problem. More often, it’s the end result of a system that has been functioning inefficiently for years.

This is why so many people experience temporary relief yet never solve the issue. They empty the bucket without fixing the leak. They calm the symptoms without changing the mechanics that continue creating them.

At Functional Patterns we don’t start by asking, “Where does it hurt?” We ask, “Why is this area being overloaded in the first place?” That question changes everything.

When you improve the organization of the entire body, force is distributed more efficiently. Compensation decreases. Movement becomes more coordinated. The tissues no longer have to absorb excessive stress, and pain often stops being something you have to manage because you’ve changed the conditions that were producing it.

Stop chasing pain. Start changing the system that created it.

Everyone is beginning to talk about animal-based training and crawling exercises for humans. What was once a niche trend has now found its way into gyms, rehabilitation clinics, and social media feeds around the world.

When crawling becomes a major focus of training, it changes how the spine orients itself under gravity. Think of a dog or any other animal that spends its life on all fours. Its body is adapted to tolerate those forces day after day. The human body is not.

When you repeatedly place a human spine in a quadrupedal position as your primary mode of exercise, you reinforce a spondylitic pattern where the upper back pushes forward and the lower spine shifts into excessive compression. Over time, this can reduce spinal rotation, degrade posture, and increase stress on the discs instead of preparing the body for healthy upright movement.

The foundation of human movement isn’t crawling. It’s standing well.

By restoring posture, rotation, and coordination while upright, you build the qualities that transfer directly to walking, running, throwing, and every other movement humans rely on. Once that foundation is established, crawling can become another movement you can perform well instead of the movement your entire training revolves around.

This doesn’t mean crawling has no place. It simply means it should complement a training program that’s built around the movements humans rely on most.

One of the biggest misconceptions in fitness is that because fascia doesn’t have motor nerves, it can’t be trained. That’s an oversimplification. As points out, you don’t contract fascia directly. You contract muscle. But every contraction places mechanical stress on the connective tissue surrounding it, and that connective tissue remodels according to the loads you expose it to.

That’s where most of the fitness industry misses the point. They’re so focused on making muscles bigger or stronger that they ignore the organization of the system those muscles operate within. Your fascia doesn’t care how much weight you lifted. It adapts to the mechanical patterns you repeat thousands of times.

If your mechanics are dysfunctional, your connective tissue becomes more efficient at expressing dysfunction. If your mechanics become more coordinated, your fascia reorganizes to support more efficient movement. The body isn’t just adapting to load. It’s adapting to the quality of the load.

This is why places so much emphasis on gait mechanics, rotational sequencing, and force transfer. We’re not trying to isolate body parts. We’re trying to improve how the entire organism organizes movement under gravity. Muscle is simply one component of that process. The connective tissue network remodels around the movement patterns you practice every day.

People often ask whether fascia can be trained. That’s the wrong question. The better question is: What are you training your fascia to become? Every workout is remodeling your connective tissue. The only thing left to decide is whether you’re reinforcing mechanics that make you more resilient, or mechanics that gradually break you down.

Your body needs a balance between tension, elasticity and mobility.

Having too much mobility directly affects your tension, your elastic recoil and function.

ALL the things you need to stay out of pain, move like a beast and age gracefully.

When we get a massage or do Myo Fascial Release work, the tension doesn’t leave our body, it has to go somewhere.

That’s why treats MFR as a starting point in the , not the full solution.

Over-releasing the tissues that we CAN reach with a tool, means we never address the deeper fascial lines, the periosteal fascia and bone-fascia interfaces that we CAN’T reach with a tool.

So how do we release deeper fascial adhesions?

As says, the key is strength work that hydrates and pressurises the fascia in the right places, so your body can balance tension instead of collapsing into hypermobility and distortion.

Learn to stack your joints, load deep fascial lines with appropriate force vectors, and use MFR strategically, not compulsively.

How often do you do MFR? Do you do a whole session the way Naudi has designed it in weeks 1 to 3 of the ? Or do you work with individual releases as you go?

Most people hear “fascia” and think foam rolling, massage guns, or stretching. That’s surface level thinking. Your fascia isn’t just something you loosen.
It’s something you program. It adapts to what you do most.

If your daily inputs don’t include standing well, walking efficiently, running with coordination and throwing with rotation, your fascial system doesn’t just sit there waiting. It reorganizes around whatever you give it. Sitting. Isolated lifting. Random stretching and movement with no real direction.

That’s where things start to break down. Not because your body is fragile, but because it’s adapting exactly how it’s being used.

Look at nature.

You wouldn’t train a kangaroo to walk on its arms all day. It wouldn’t just look wrong, it would eventually break the animal down. Its structure, its fascia, its entire system is built to hop.

Humans are no different.

We’re built to stand, walk, run, and throw. That’s the blueprint your fascia organizes around. When you train in alignment with that, things start to feel lighter. More elastic. More connected. When you don’t, the system stiffens, compensates, and starts sending signals.

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what your body is actually designed for.

Train your fascia. Move better. Get stronger. Stay resilient. That’s FP all dang day.

do we have healthy bodies?

Too much stuff.
Too much rushing.
Too much noise.

Too little presence.
Too little gratitude
for the sun on our skin,
for the air in our lungs,
for the trees that give us oxygen.

Somewhere along the way
in modern life,
we lose the plot.

Because you can have everything…
and still not know how to enjoy any of it.

Your body is exhausted.
Your nervous system overstimulated.
Your mind overloaded.

Training in alignment with human evolution
is not a trend.

It is a return to fundamentals.

A reminder to the body
of how it was built to function.

Through my education with I’ve discovered a far more comprehensive way to assess and address the body. I’m learning postural analysis, human biomechanics and how to identify the compensations and imbalances driving my clients’ issues. It has given me the feeling that I’m no longer just guiding movement, I’m actually solving problems.
