Emanuele Zucca and Francesco Bertoni have been invited to comment on a paper reporting the promising results of a phase II trial with the BTK-inhibitor ibrutinib in patients affected by mantle cell lymphoma. You can read the editorial that is now out on the New England Journal of Medicine.

A paper, now out on Blood, by the IOR Lymphoma and Genomic Research Group reports the functional characterization of a newly identified recurrent 11q24.3 gain. The work identifies two transcription factors, ETS1 and FLI1, deregulated and contributing to the pathogenesis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Read more here.

A recurrent gain of a region of chromosome 11 (11q.24.3) occurs in up to one quarter of cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Congratulations! Giuseppina Carbone, Group Leader of Prostate Cancer Biology of the IOR was awarded a new Grant from the Swiss National Foundation to study the role of the ETS factor ESE3/EHF in prostate epithelial cell differentiation and cancer stem cell. The grant is effective April 2013 for 3 years.
