🌿 A call from the heart has the potential to open an entire universe ~ or broaden one already filled with love and beauty ✨

🌱 Cacao has the potential to assist us in opening more deeply into and through our spiritual heart, where the divine eternal flame of our soul resides.

From this place, we can become more intimate with our HEART DREAMING ~ the deepest dream our soul holds for its highest expression, gently guiding us towards what can heal, liberate and unfold us into our highest potential.

The alchemy of cacao can support contemplation, clarity and presence, creating space to listen more deeply and envision the path of our heart 💛

🌱 And there is something beautifully tangible behind this experience too. A cup of pure sacred cacao naturally brings together theobromine, magnesium and a rich array of plant compounds.

Theobromine gently stimulates the nervous system and supports cardiovascular activity, while cacao’s sensory and nutritional qualities can accompany a state of alert calmness ~ awake, grounded and available to listen.

✨ WHAT IS YOUR SOUL DREAMING INTO BEING?

🌿 We close this series with one last traditional use of cacao shared with us by Tikuna medicine woman Francisca Cruz.

Francisca explains that the empty cacao pod can be washed and cooked in water, and that the resulting preparation is traditionally given to pregnant women when the baby is taking time to be born.

🌱 Fresh cacao beans are naturally surrounded by a white, slippery mucilaginous pulp, some of which remains inside the pod along its inner walls. Francisca associates this slippery quality of cacao with helping the baby to be born more quickly.

The recipe she shared with us is simple and not detailed — and we don’t want to add to, interpret, or reconstruct what was transmitted. We simply share her words as they were given to us.

One last teaching from the forest, carried through generations and still alive today 🍃

🙏🏼 With deep gratitude to Francisca Cruz and the community of Nuevo Paraíso, Colombian Amazon, for everything they shared with us throughout this series.

🌿 Cacao skincare… but not quite as we know it 💫

Cacao has long found its way into beauty and skincare, usually and mainly through cacao butter. But in the Colombian Amazon, Francisca Cruz shared with us a use we had never encountered before.

She gently scratches the skin of a fresh green cacao pod, leaves it overnight, and applies the substance that appears on its surface directly to the face.

✨ A practice rooted in generations of observation, knowledge, and relationship with the living forest.

The wisdom surrounding cacao keeps fascinating us 🌱

With gratitude to Francisca Cruz and the community of Nuevo Paraíso, Colombian Amazon 💚

🍃 Plant Spirit.
Plant Whisper.
Plant Magic.

Across many Indigenous traditions, plants are understood as living beings ~ not simply as resources. They carry their own intelligence, express unique patterns, and participate in both their own ecosystems and the wider web of life.

Perhaps this is why so many traditions speak of plant spirits, guardians, and allies.

Echoes of this understanding can also be found in the work of and, today, in emerging fields of plant science.

It is still here.

🌱 Cacao is one of these remarkable plants, native to the Amazon rainforest. It is part of a living world where trees, plants, fungi, and countless other beings reveal forms of intelligence and healing that invite us beyond the limits of our analytical minds.

It is a food, a medicine, and a bridge into a different way of relating to the living world 🌱

💫 The next two reels explore two traditional medicinal uses of cacao shared by Francisca Cruz, passed down through generations.

Stay tuned!

🐛 In many Indigenous worldviews, the plant world is understood as alive. Plants are living beings, each carrying their own spirit, intelligence, and guardians.

After the ceremony, we asked Francisca Cruz, a Tikuna medicine woman, whether plants such as cacao have a spirit.

“They do,” she replied. “And they also have their guardian.”

She then explained that when she finds a caterpillar feeding on the cacao tree, she does not kill it.

“It is its mother.”

Our friend added that the caterpillar represents the plant’s guardian or mother. Before gathering a medicinal plant or harvesting its fruit, permission is first asked from this guardian.

🌱 Whether understood literally, symbolically, or spiritually, this teaching invites us to relate to the living world with humility, respect, and reciprocity.

💫 We share this glimpse into the Tikuna worldview with deep gratitude to Francisca Cruz and the community of Nuevo Paraíso, Colombian Amazon.

🌿 More than a story, this is a Tikuna origin myth about the origins of seeds and the living forest.

Among the Tikuna, one of the largest Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon, the forest is understood as a living continuum, where plants, animals, people, and their ancestors are all deeply interconnected.

🫎 In this ancestral narrative, Ngau, the deer, goes from ancestor to ancestor, sharing seeds. Through this sacred gesture came cassava, sugarcane, plantains, and countless other fruits and plants.

As Tikuna medicine woman Francisca Cruz tells it:

“The trees fall, the seeds fall, and new life grows.”

Within these few words, she evokes the profound intelligence of the forest, whose wisdom lies in its endless capacity to regenerate, renew, and spread life.

💫 It reminds us that everything has an origin, and everything is interconnected. The ancestors are not simply figures of the past, but living bridges through which life continues to flow. Every seed carries memory, every tree is part of an ongoing story, and the forest itself is a living expression of continuity and relationship.

🌱 And among the countless gifts of this living forest is ~ a tree born in the Amazon, still carrying the memory of its origins.

We share this glimpse into the Tikuna worldview with deep gratitude to Francisca Cruz and the community of Nuevo Paraíso, Colombian Amazon.

🌿 Ancestral knowledge, carried through song.

During this ceremony in Nuevo Paraíso, in the Colombian Amazon, Francisca Cruz sings in her native Tikuna language, giving voice to the knowledge transmitted through her ancestral lineage.

Her song carries knowledge of the forest: its plants, the properties and uses of different fruits, natural medicines, and the traditional ways of preparing food and cacao.

Francisca is a Tikuna medicine woman who learned about medicinal plants from her father, before he passed away when she was about eleven years old. Her knowledge embraces the living world of the forest as a whole; cacao is simply one among the many plants and fruits she knows and works with.

The Tikuna are one of the largest Indigenous Peoples of the Amazon, living across Colombia, Peru and Brazil. Their traditions are deeply rooted in a living relationship with the forest, where plants, animals, rivers and humans are all part of the same web of life.

This reel is the first in a short series offering a small glimpse into the Tikuna worldview through Francisca’s songs and stories.

🌱 We share these moments with deep gratitude, hoping they inspire the same sense of wonder and respect for the living forest that they awakened in us.

One Love. One Love Cacao.
