International Association of Paediatric Dentistry It started with a national membership of 31 nations and a supporting membership of 270, which has grown to 57 nations and over 1000 members in 2012.

The International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) was founded in 1969 to act as an international focus for specialist paediatric dentists and general dental practitioners with an interest in children and their oral health. The International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) was founded in 1969, ;with the name of "International Association of Paediatric Dentistry for Children".

The aims were to act as an international focus for specialist paediatric dentists and general dental practitioners with an interest in children. Since that time the membership and world wide influence of the association have expanded so that now, through its national societies it represents over 15,000 dentists. The administration of the IAPD is through an elected board and the council that consists of the representatives of the member countries.
