Stiamo partecipando alla challenge in crowdsourcing di Uplink rivolta a individuare le migliori soluzioni per affrontare la crisi sanitaria in atto e quelle future.

Hospithome con il suo sistema di telemedicina, che risolve attraverso il monitoraggio dei pazienti in remoto il problema del sovraffollamento delle strutture ospedaliere (a sua volta una delle cause principali della diffusione del contagio), ha già dimostrato la sua efficacia durante il lockdown e nelle settimane successive.

Volgiamo rendere la telemedicina uno standard sanitario e per farlo abbiamo bisogno di vincere questa challange.

Telemedicine and telehealth are often used interchangeably.

The World Health Organization (WHO) refers to telemedicine as “healing from a distance.” It is the use of telecommunication and information technology to provide remote clinical services to patients.

Health care professionals use telemedicine for video consultations and the transmission of test results. The use of secure video and audio connections means health professionals can treat patients who live in areas with limited access to care.

HealthIT.gov defines telehealth as “the utilization of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support and promote long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health education, public health and health administration.

Its use continues to grow, and telehealth will likely become more widespread.

Research shows that telehealth and RPM reduce hospitalizations and readmissions, especially among patients with heart disease and COPD.

Perhaps some of the most promising research conducted thus far has focused on the benefits of telehealth and RPM in reducing hospitalizations and hospital readmissions, especially among patients with heart disease and COPD.

For example, one meta-analysis of telehealth studies conducted in 2011 found that, compared to standard care, those patients with heart failure receiving telehealth had a 42 percent reduction in hospitalizations.
