RESPECT IS A FORM OF APPRECIATION
It is about the fact, that another person is different and you should be prepared not only to accept this difference, but also to recognise its value.
However, many people have difficulties appreciating other people or showing appreciation. This difficulty is often caused by the fact, that many people have not yet learned to value themselves. SELF-ESTEEM and a stable FEELING OF SELF-VALUE, however, is the prerequisite for being able to accept another person as he or she is and to respect that person. Therefore, the appreciation of a person and also oneself is not an innate virtue, but can certainly be learned or improved.
A stable self-esteem is characterised by a healthy appreciation of the own personality. Positive self-worth is the fundamental certainty of personal valuability, regardless of behavior and faults. To consider oneself valuable means, to accept oneself with all individual strengths and weaknesses. Only in this unconditionality it is possible to learn to accept other people with their faults as well.
People, who have learned to accept themselves with all their strengths and weaknesses, can also learn to accept their counterparts accordingly.
