This is an expression of true love in our home 😁. I've been on calls all morning, venture into the kitchen for a coffee and find this treat on the counter left by Jason (hubby).
Ox tail bone broth that's been simmering for 12 hrs- it's freaking delish and made from the bones left over from todays "dish of the day" in his new restaurant.

I love this quote from Prof Valter Longo, the world's leading researcher and authority on health effects of fasting.
As with everything touted for optimal health, here its fasting, it means nothing if it's not right for you.

Jason, my lovely husband, made pistachio crusted lamb rack for dinner, and i had the task of shelling the pistachios. A task that was promptly replaced when he realised i was eating all the nuts (see shell to nut ratio) đŸ€Ł

Besides being very tasty and fun to eat pistachios are very rich in a variety of nutrients including B6, potassium, cancer fighting antioxidants and fibres that feed your gut bugs, specifically the ones that create short chain fatty acids (SCFA).
Bacterial produced SCFA are vital for keeping the gut lining healthy, they are anti-inflammatory, brain protective and even affect DNA replication.

So enjoying those pistachios was more than just a tasty treat, it was a feast for the 🩠, well worth it even if it did get me into some trouble.

Im not usually a follower or fan of trends but discovering that cherry juice is the lates craze is great!
I've been “prescribing” tart cherry juice for over a decade in practice and absolutely love it myself.

I actually discovered this was a thing, and not just a clinical hot tip 😊through a post by someone who apparently isn’t a fan, stating that it just messes with your blood sugar. Thing is, yes blood sugar is important and absolutely every nutrition professional will discuss this with their clients but, there is so much more to take into account.

Firstly the cherry juice that should be used is concentrated tart Montmorency cherry’s, unsweetened, and not the sweet variety commonly found on the supermarket shelves. This cherry has a GI (glycaemic index) of 54 which falls just in the low range, meaning it wont create too much of an insulin spike and effect on blood sugar. If it does then have it with some protein and fat containing food- simple.

Secondly, and these are the reasons why we want to drink it, they contain melatonin which helps us sleep – everyone, and their blood sugar, is happier with good sleep.
These cherries also contain heaps of other potent antioxidants that help support everything from immune to anti-aging and brain function, as well as, you guessed it, a happy microbiome and gut (which, again, helps support that blood sugar regulation 😉)
And, for those of you who suffer from gout this is where we find the most longstanding research for beneficial use of tart cherries as it can reduce blood levels of uric acid.

So consensus from my side - I will keep on suggesting that tart cherry juice and seeing clients benefit.

Gut Function and Bacteria is linked to PD .

Its a bold statement but researchers have been in agreement for sometime that Parkinson's disease has a direct link to the gut function with the Parkinson's Foundation stating “Gastrointestinal dysfunctions are some of the most common and troublesome symptoms in PD. Constipation affects up to 70% of people with Parkinson's and often begins long before the onset of PD’s
” in fact constipation is one of the alarm bells when considering potential PD.
And they agree that the bacteria with in the gut plays a major role in causation too.

But, on a positive note, the latest news confirms the knowledge of certain bacteria being a potential culprit in causing the disease. These bacteria are specific strains of Desulfovibrio, and further research shows that beneficial strains of Prevotella, Faecalibacterium and Roseburia, are reduced in people with Parkinson's.

Why do I say that’s a positive note ? Because these are all strains of bacteria we test for in all our comprehensive stool tests. We can detect and address bacterial imbalances, and get your bowels moving, thereby potentially Preventing PD !! And considering there is no cure then this would be the perfect example of

Why not do what is in your power to protect your brain and health ?

“FDA warns consumers of hidden drug ingredients in Dr. Ergin’s SugarMD Advanced Glucose Support”

This recently made news and waves in the supplement industry.
You may think that because the brand has Dr and MD in its name its safe
but no, its just another product that’s developed with ill intentions, like so many others in the “natural health” world we find ourselves constantly trying to navigate.

The article stated “A diabetes support supplement called Advanced Glucose Support Supplement was recently recalled for containing undeclared glyburide and metformin.”
Undeclared drug ingredients, synthetic ingredients and products simply not containing what they claim, are an ongoing issue for the supplement industry as a whole, especially in countries where there is little to no regulation, which also affects us in countries with high regulation as they are then shipped via online sites.

Whats the solution? Use supplements vetted by 3rd party or if in Europe buy local - we have fantastic brands available.
