This is a book for people who did everything right.
You followed the instructions. You built the career, or the family, or both. You became strong, and capable, and the one everyone relies on. And then, somewhere along the way, the lightness went out of it, and you found yourself managing a life instead of living it. If any of that lands, you are who I wrote this for.
I am a coach, and before that I was a woman who had done everything right and could not understand why it had stopped working. I built a visible, successful life, and then my body stopped, on the floor of a hospital, in a season when medicine could treat me but could not reach the actual trouble. On that floor I had to find out what was left of me when the performance was gone. What I found, and slowly rebuilt myself with, became the method in this book.
I want to be honest with you from the first page, the way I will be on every page after it. I am not going to promise to fix your marriage, cure an illness, or hand you back the body you had at twenty-five. I am going to tell you only what I did, and what I do with the people who come to me, and you will be the one who decides what to do with it.
The book moves in three parts. The first shows you why you no longer recognize yourself. The second is the method itself, five phases in the order I walk them with a client, written so you can begin the first three on your own. The third is the life on the other side of the work.
You do not have to be in crisis to begin. You only have to be willing to stop performing for long enough to read. Let us start there.
And about the author at the end:
