Biofilms are a persistent and often underestimated threat in reusable medical device reprocessing.
They form resilient structures that can survive routine cleaning and disinfection, particularly when driven by factors such as moisture, residual soil, delayed reprocessing, and complex device design.
Risk varies across device types, with flexible endoscopes representing a particularly high-risk category.
The webinar explores clinical implications, including infection transmission risks, and reviews evidence-based anti-biofilm and standardization strategies to improve patient safety.

- Active contributor to international standardization bodies (AFNOR, CEN, ISO, AAMI), supporting global standards in sterilization, biofilm control, UV disinfection, and medical device safety.

How often should workstations be cleaned in the preparation and packaging areas?

It is important that most areas of the Sterile Processing Department are properly cleaned at least daily. Work surfaces and sinks should be cleaned at least each shift and more frequently, as needed.
