Hello friends of the Good Shepherd Home,

The Home in Cameroon is appealing for funding for a security fence at the back of the property to ensure the safety of staff, Sisters, and children. The cost of the fence will be $10,200 USD.

Please consider sending out out the appeal to any possible donors you might know, or email us at [email protected] if you might be willing to donate from your own resources. The required amount to begin the project would be $6,900 USD, and the project will take approximately two months to complete.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

All donations by check would go to the Community of St. John Baptist, PO Box 240 with the words "Good Shepherd Home Fence" on the ledger line. If donors prefer to send donations online, please contact our CSJB Business Manager Darren Somerville at [email protected].

Many thanks for considering this appeal. If you are unable to help, we ask your prayers for the project.

In Christ,

Sr. Monica Clare
Superior, Community of St. John Baptist

Today we are filled with happiness and joy as we celebrate with two of the young men from the Good Shepherd Home. Akwa Gilbert and Ateh Cavour are now Doctors as the graduate from the Catholic University of Cameroon. Congratulations Dr. Akwa and Dr. Ateh. I would also like to say thank you to Dr. Waldman, his wife Joan and their family and friends who started the Medical School Scholarship and made it possible for the children of the Good Shepherd Home to go to medical school. Thank you to all the Sponsors for their continued support.

"We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support from all of you who have reached out to us in our sorrow at Sister Jane Mankaa's passing.

The work of the Good Shepherd Home will continue, and the children need our support now more than ever. If you would like to make a gift in Sister Jane's memory to ensure that the children will have a safe, loving home and a bright future, please go to https://www.goodshepherdhome.org/about to donate.
Sister Jane rescued babies from many hopeless situations, and instead of making the children available for adoption she chose to raise them into adulthood, provide an excellent education, and raise funds for their college education. That unique and visionary model of a children's home has given hundreds of Cameroon's children a stable path to success and happiness that they never could have had otherwise.
Thank you for your continued support of God's precious children."

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that Sister Jane Mankaa died peacefully this afternoon in hospital in Cameroon. She was the embodiment of God's love to all who knew her - a faithful, energetic , joyful servant of Christ who worked tirelessly to bring about the Kingdom of God here on earth. As Founder of the Benedictine Sisters of Bethany, Good Shepherd Home and Good Shepherd Academy her faith, vision and determination never wavered. Sister Jane never tired of helping just one more person, sharing with many a love they would never have known without her.
The Sisters of the Community of St. John Baptist have just learned this news. Please bear with us as we absorb it.

May our beloved Sister rest in peace and rise in glory, now and forever more, as she lives on in resurrection light.
