A STORY OF HEALTHCARE SERVICE, SURGERY & HOPE
It a heartfelt and fulfilling mission for me . I am thrilled to share with you a recent surgical mission , Under the sponsorship of True Life International Medical Outreach , Missionary Evangelist Rev. Peter Schneider and Wife in collaboration with Full Gospel Mission Health Services and the Yokadouma District HospitalI. I had the honor as the Medical Director of leading a surgical campaign to the East of Cameroon titled mission yokaduma 2 . Our core team consisted of a surgeon, an anesthetist nurse, a medical and occupational health doctor and myself . We joined a 13-person local team already on the ground to bring surgical care where it’s needed most.
This mission was born out of a previous outreach where we encountered heartbreaking surgical cases that we were unable to treat due to limited resources. That experience left a lasting impression. It sparked in us a deeper commitment to return better equipped, and more determined to serve.
Over the course of what was initially planned as a three day mission, we worked tirelessly for four full days, from 8 AM to beyond 8 PM, driven by compassion and the overwhelming number of urgent cases. PERFORMING life-changing surgeries reaching out hundreds of patients with free medical care
Despite the exhaustion, long hours, and intense heat, we pressed on because this mission wasn’t just about treating illness. It was about restoring dignity, renewing hope, and saving lives.
I will never forget the look of relief in a mother’s eyes after her child’s operation and the grateful handshake of an elderly man who had lived with an inguinoscrotal hernia for over 11 years, and was finally free of his struggle and limitations. Those moments reminded us of why we do what we do.
A heartfelt thank you to our valued team ,partners and supporters, your belief in accessible healthcare continues to make a meaningful difference in Cameroon’s most underserved communities.
To my fellow healthcare professionals, advocates, and development partners, let’s continue reaching the unreached. Let’s keep delivering healing where hope is scarce. (As Afrobarometer Cameroon reported in 2019, access to quality healthcare remains a major challenge across many regions.)
Mission Yokadouma 2 tested our endurance but deepened our conviction. I would do it again without hesitation. It was an over 40-hour journey to and from Yokadouma an intense and demanding trek that tested both our bodies and spirits. On my way back, I fell ill with malaria, a stark reminder of the very health burdens we set out to fight. Thankfully, with prompt diagnosis and timely treatment, I recovered quickly. I’m deeply grateful for the resilience God granted me, and even more so for the chance to keep pressing forward in this mission of mercy.
Transforming Lives. Empowering Communities. That’s our mission.
