Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the Catholic University of Bamenda

On October 25, I had the privilege of co-organising and actively participating in the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Day at the Catholic University of Bamenda, in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event focused on raising awareness about breast cancer, with strong emphasis on early detection, regular screening, and breast self-examination. Through health talks, interactive discussions, and student engagement activities, we addressed common myths, reduced stigma, and empowered participants with accurate, life-saving information.

For more than two years, I have remained deeply committed to the fight against breast cancer, actively engaging in awareness campaigns, sensitization programs, and community health education initiatives. Co-organising this event was a continuation of my ongoing efforts to promote preventive healthcare and encourage timely health-seeking behaviour.

The program brought together students, health advocates, and members of the university community in a unified effort to advance women’s health and public health advocacy. It further reinforced the critical role of young health professionals and medical students in driving sustainable health education within academic and community settings.

This experience reaffirmed my dedication to breast cancer awareness, early diagnosis, and public health action as key strategies to reduce breast cancer–related morbidity and mortality.
