“Physiotherapy isn’t just about muscles and joints it’s about the beliefs and habits that quietly control your recovery. Here’s how I use the laws of human behavior and REBT to make rehab actually stick.”

Many patients don’t stick to their physiotherapy plan not because they’re lazy, but because their behavior is following predictable psychological patterns and underlying beliefs. From a Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) perspective, it’s not just pain or circumstances that stop people; it’s also what they believe about pain, recovery, time, and their own abilities (for example, “If I can’t do it perfectly, it’s pointless,” or “Because I still have some pain, these exercises aren’t working”). In real life, change happens in stages (from “not ready” to “doing it,” with normal ups and downs), we repeat what feels rewarding (not what feels confusing or punishing), our environment often beats our willpower, our identity and personal story matter, and lasting change needs ongoing support rather than one‑off instructions.

As a physiotherapist and founder of Kriss Mobile Physiotherapy, I design rehab around these behavioral principles & REBT. I first match the plan to the patient’s stage of readiness, then help them notice and gently challenge rigid, unrealistic, or self‑defeating beliefs that block adherence, replacing them with more rational, helpful ones (like “Progress can be gradual and still valuable,” or “Some discomfort during rehab doesn’t automatically mean harm”). I focus on short, realistic exercises that quickly reduce stiffness or pain so the brain wants to repeat them, and because I come to the patient’s home, I can turn their real environment into part of the treatment , building simple cues and micro‑routines into daily life instead of relying on motivation alone. I also respect who they are (parent, worker, student, entrepreneur, elder etc) instead of blaming them, and I provide home visits plus remote check‑ins so they’re supported as they change both their behavior & their beliefs over time.

My goal with Kriss Mobile Physiotherapy is simple: use the laws of human behavior and REBT‑informed mindset work to make recovery more humane, more practical, and more sustainable for real people, in real homes, living real lives.

Pregnancy is one of the most important phases in a woman’s life, but it also comes with significant musculoskeletal and postural changes that can affect comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life. As the body adapts to support the growing baby, many women begin to experience low back pain, pelvic discomfort, balance issues, and muscle weakness that often interfere with daily activities.

What is often overlooked is that these changes are not just “normal discomforts of pregnancy” they are biomechanical and physiological adaptations that can be effectively managed and improved with physiotherapy.

During pregnancy, the body undergoes increased lumbar lordosis that causes back pain due to weight shift, relaxation of ligaments under the influence of relaxin, widening of pelvic joints, and stretching of abdominal muscles. These changes can lead to conditions such as pelvic girdle pain, symphysis p***s dysfunction, diastasis recti, postural imbalance, and gait alterations. Without proper management, these issues may progress and affect both prenatal comfort and postpartum recovery.

Physiotherapy plays a critical role in supporting pregnant women through these changes. Through safe and tailored interventions such as postural training, pelvic floor strengthening, core stabilization exercises, breathing techniques, gait retraining, and pain management strategies, physiotherapy helps to reduce discomfort, improve functional mobility, and prepare the body for childbirth and recovery.

Beyond pain relief, physiotherapy also contributes to better balance, reduced risk of falls, improved circulation, and enhanced pelvic stability. It is not just treatment, it is preventive care that supports both mother and baby throughout pregnancy.

At this stage, access to professional care is essential, especially for women who may not be able to travel easily or who prefer the comfort of home-based care. This is where Kriss mobile physiotherapy becomes a valuable solution.

Kriss Mobile Physiotherapy is dedicated to providing professional, evidence-based physiotherapy care for pregnant women within Buea and surrounding areas. We offer home-based antenatal physiotherapy services designed to address pain, improve mobility, strengthen key muscle groups, and support a healthier pregnancy experience.

Our approach is focused on safety, comfort, and individualized care, ensuring that every pregnant woman receives the attention her body needs during this transformative period.

Pregnancy should be a journey of strength, not constant discomfort. With the right physiotherapy support, women can move better, feel better, and prepare better for childbirth and recovery.

If you are pregnant or supporting someone who is, physiotherapy can make a meaningful difference and help transform the pregnancy experience into one of improved function, confidence, and wellbeing.

A few degrees can change everything in rehab.
4 months ago, a lady contacted me through my google business page for a physiotherapy visit in Buea-Cameroon, I met her recovering from a tibial fracture. She had been homebound for weeks after cast removal, unsure of how to trust her leg again.
Her biggest concern was simple: “Will I walk normally again?” And if yes how soon?

During the initial assessment, I used a goniometer to measure her knee and ankle range of motion. The numbers told a familiar story, restricted knee flexion, limited dorsiflexion, and visible stiffness from immobilization.
But beyond the measurements, there was fear. Fear of weight-bearing. Fear of pain. Fear of re-injury.

In mobile physiotherapy, the home becomes your clinic, and function becomes your priority. The advantage here is the comfort and ease the patient has in their home 🏠
We started small:
• Sitting to standing without assistance
• Gradual weight transfer onto the affected leg
• Controlled knee bending during daily activities
Each session, I remeasured her range. A few extra degrees here, a little more control there. The goniometer helped quantify progress but what truly mattered was what those gains meant in her daily life.
One day, she walked across her compound unaided.
That moment said more than any measurement ever could.

Goniometry is not just about angles, it is about tracking the return of independence, confidence, and normal life.
As a Physiotherapist, especially in mobile and community settings, we must look beyond the numbers. Every degree gained is a step closer to a restored range of motion.

You never truly realize how much your body is crying out for a massage or cupping therapy until you finally experience the deep healing and soothing relief it delivers.

We stay constantly consumed by the daily hustle managing demanding work schedules, paying bills, providing for family, and showing up for loved ones. But ask yourself: Have you paused to care for the very body that allows you to do it all? Without maintaining your physical health, how can you expect to move through life safely, efficiently, and pain-free?
At Kriss Mobile Physiotherapy, we specialize in bringing top-tier rehabilitation directly to you. We are here to target those stubborn muscle knots, painful trigger points, and hidden contractures before they restrict your mobility or impact your daily life.

This week, let us help you keep your body in check.
To experience the profound benefits of our specialized care, we are offering FREE cupping therapy sessions for a limited time. Take a moment for your health, your body will thank you tomorrow.
