LEADERSHIP IS SEEING VALUE WHERE OTHERS SEE GARBAGE 🍌♻️

Every morning in Buea’s markets, I watch spoiled bananas get dumped by the roadside.

To most people, it’s waste.

To me, it’s fertilizer that could feed 3 farms.
It’s clean cooking gas that could replace firewood for a family.
It’s flour that could help a bakery fight malnutrition.

Banana peels are 40% potassium. They’re packed with pectin for bio-plastics. They ferment into bio-gas.

But we throw them away because “that’s how it’s always been done.

Leadership isn’t about having a big budget or a fancy title.

It’s about asking: What problem am I willing to walk past?

So I’m starting small. This month: 50kg of peels to organic fertilizer trial with 3 farms in Muea. If it works, we scale. If it fails, we learn.

Because communities don’t change when perfect solutions arrive.
They change when ordinary people refuse to accept “waste” as the final answer.

What’s the “banana peel” in your community — the problem everyone ignores but could create wealth?🌍

Today, on World Cerebral Palsy Day, we celebrate a global community of over 17 million people who are . We stand together to recognize the individuality and strength of every person living with cerebral palsy.

No two people with cerebral palsy (CP) are the same. It is a group of conditions that affects movement and coordination, but its impact varies widely. For some, it might mean using a wheelchair, while for others, it could affect speech, balance, or fine motor skills. Yet, every person with CP is defined not by their diagnosis, but by their unique personality, talents, and spirit.
Today is about raising our collective voice to drive real, positive change.
It’s a day to:
Raise awareness: To foster a deeper understanding of CP, challenging stereotypes, and highlighting the vibrant lives within the community.
Promote inclusion: To advocate for equal opportunities in education, employment, and community life.
Push for innovation: To accelerate research and access to technologies, like assistive devices and therapies, that can improve quality of life.
We are so much stronger when we are united. By sharing our stories, celebrating our differences, and working toward a more accessible and equitable world, we show that our unity is our greatest strength.

This World CP Day, here’s how you can take action:
Educate yourself and others. Learn more about cerebral palsy and the experiences of those who have it.
Use the hashtags and to share your story or a message of support.
Support organizations like the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), and local chapters that advocate for research and rights.
Let's show the world that while we are all unique, we are also powerfully united.

I sat at my desk, staring blankly at the microscope in front of me. My mind began to wander, and I found myself daydreaming about all the amazing things I could do with a medical laboratory technology degree.

"If only I had the money," I thought to myself, "I could start my own medical testing center. Or maybe even a genetic testing service. The possibilities are endless!" I imagined myself as a successful entrepreneur, running my own business and making a real difference in people's lives.

As I sat there, my mind started racing with ideas. "I could offer bioinformatics services, analyzing complex biological data to help researchers and clinicians make informed decisions. Or maybe even develop AI-driven diagnostic tools for early disease detection." The more I thought about it, the more excited I became.

But then reality set in. "Yeah, right," I thought, chuckling to myself. "Like I have the funds to make any of those things happen." I sighed and refocused on my work, but my mind kept drifting back to all the what-ifs.

What if I could acquire some additional skills, like repairing medical equipment or developing health and wellness apps? What if I could create my own telemedicine platform or medical records management system? The possibilities seemed endless, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration that I couldn't pursue them all.

As I worked, I couldn't shake the feeling that there must be more to life than just running tests and analyzing samples. I wanted to make a bigger impact, to use my skills to change the world. And who knows? Maybe someday I'll find a way to make it happen. đź’ˇ

For now, I'll just keep dreaming... and maybe, just maybe, one day those dreams will become a reality. 🌟

I smiled to myself, feeling a sense of hope and determination. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe someday I'll be running my own medical testing center or developing life-changing medical technology. The possibilities are endless.
