I visited the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Headquarters in The Hague🇳🇱

When I first started my career in midwifery, one of the very first dreams I penned down in my diary was to one day visit the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Headquarters. At the time, it felt like a distant, massive milestone.

Looking back, ICM has been the foundation for so many of my professional "firsts."
✔️They gave me my first international opportunity through the Young Midwife Leaders Program in 2022.
✔️They made my first-ever international trip possible, flying me to Aarhus, Denmark, for the International Labor and Birth Conference.
✔️And on that very same trip, they handed me my first global speaking opportunity, trusting me to represent them (& young Midwives) on a massive stage for the conference's closing panel.

Meeting & hugging people like Enith Cañola, whom I’ve only known through emails since 2022, was a beautiful moment.

As my colleague & mentor Bartholomew K. Kamlewe beautifully wrote in a text, “For midwives, this visit feels like a moment Catholics visit Rome or Muslims visit Mecca or any highest place in their hierarchy it doesn't get better than ICM HQ for us midwives. It’s a place we usually only see in textbooks or on Zoom webinars. Seeing a young woman from Cameroon make it there is a reminder that absolutely nothing is impossible when you map out your path with heart and hard work.”

To my fellow midwives, put an ICM HQ visit on your bucket list. Dreams written in diaries really do come true! 🩺🌍

Thank you Liselotte Kweekel for hosting me, was lovely seeing you there Neha Mankani😍, Madelon Cabooter Solomon Hailemeskel (Ph.D, RDF) Bruna Bimbato Elisabetta Spoldi Yeiwon Cho Sergio Beneitez and to the entire ICM team for the amazing work you do for Midwives globally especially as we countdown to the ICM 2026 Triennial Congress.

(Glad i caught our video call moment on camera Annie Yates😍)

Today’s sessions - Day 2 of the International Alloimmune Conference, Leiden 🇳🇱looked at how different countries handle HDFN (Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn).

We talked about screening, complex treatments, and how to break down the global barriers that stop families from getting care. It was a powerful reminder that clinical science is great, but we have to make it work for real people in local communities.

To make the day even more special, I am deeply honored to have been one of those to be awarded the Alvin Zipursky Travel Grant from WIRhE Foundation (Worldwide Initiative for Rh Disease Eradication) and Colombia university!🏅

This grant honors the legacy of Dr. Alvin Zipursky, a pioneer whose work saved millions of newborn lives from Rhesus disease.

This means taking these global lessons from the conference and bringing them directly to the ground to save the lives of more mothers and babies in Cameroon.

It was a pleasure meeting Steven Spitalnik, Ellen van der Schoot in person.

The work continues! 👶🏾❤️

Walking the very halls where Albert Einstein once stood and lectured is a surreal way to start a conference🇳🇱.
Gathering at Leiden University, Europe's oldest university really did provide the ultimate backdrop for Day 1 of the International Alloimmune Conference as we confronted the Anti-D Divide.

We spent the day tackling a critical global health challenge which is the severe shortage of ‘anti-D,’ a life-saving treatment that keeps babies safe when their blood type doesn't match their mother's.

From Africa to Latin America, we mapped out the heavy realities of this crisis and looked closely at why mothers in rural and lower-income areas remain the most vulnerable to this supply gap.

A major highlight for me was co-hosting a World Café session with Gaia Mori focused specifically on policy and advocacy. It was an engaging & interactive space where we brought brilliant global minds together to brainstorm how we can influence healthcare laws and shift systems to ensure life-saving clinical science actually reaches the front lines.

Some fun facts:
✔️ Leiden University was founded all the way back in 1575, meaning we are walking through over 450 years of history.
✔️It’s sunny here till about 10pm
✔️ Albert Einstein was actually an appointed special professor here and visited regularly to think, teach, and chat with fellow scientists.

This week, I’ll be joining the Global Dialogue on HDFN Care at the 2nd International Alloimmune Conference 2026 in Leiden, The Netherlands🇳🇱, from May 28–29!

As a midwife, participating in this global conversation is very critical. Alloimmunization and Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn (HDFN) has severe consequences for maternal and infant health, yet the reality of accessing timely, quality care looks vastly different depending on where a mother is giving birth.

Bringing my perspective of frontline midwifery to this international stage is essential to ensure that clinical solutions are grounded in the realities of community implementation and rural health landscapes.

I am honored to be attending this conference in my capacity as a WIRhE Foundation (Worldwide Initiative for Rh Disease Eradication) Africa Regional Board Member, bridging the gap between global expertise and localized, proximate leadership.

I am deeply grateful for the support and guidance of the WIRhE team so far, and I look forward to an impactful week of learning, advocacy, and strategic collaboration! 🌍✨

During my last trip to Nairobi, I got to meet two phenomenal women in person.

First is Vaida Odongo —I used to watch her bring so much life and intentionality to our (then) virtual +1 Global Fund sessions (I don’t know about you, but boring virtual meetings feel like torture😅). We share that same energy for online spaces, but what really made us click is her fierce love for supporting social entrepreneurs while championing trust-based philanthropy. Finally sitting down across from her in person just felt right. We discussed everything from life, love to work.

Then there is Nyambura Ngumba, CMktr, MCIM, who has been coaching my team & I at For Mom and Baby Foundation through the Dovetail Impact Foundation Acceleration portfolio via her work with MIGHTY ALLY to help us shape our brand and tell our story better.
She has this beautiful, unique gift.. Nyambura can look you in the eye and tell you exactly how much more work there is to do, keeping you on your toes, but always with the softest voice and a big smile😄😄.
We are still a work in progress, but we are so much better because of her.

I left both conversations not just with a full heart, but with a renewed fire to keep pushing forward. Here is to the women who inspire us to do better and dream bigger! 🤝❤️ ✨

My 'Good God' year! - Happy Birthday to me🎂✨

🎖️Never known a better yesterday.
🎖️Latters always greater than the former.
🎖️Glorified & not small.
🎖️Multiplied & not few.

If you’ve been touched by my journey or the work we do at For Mom and Baby Foundation, please consider making a donation toward my goal. It’ll be the best birthday gift today. 🩷

It’s my birthday tomorrow (May9th) & I only have one wish this year—and I’m making it public because I need all the support and gifting I can get to make it a reality.

In Cameroon, 438 out of every 100,000 women who give birth lose their lives.

Behind these numbers is a mother who won't see her child’s first steps and a sister whose seat at the table will be empty. I have made it my life’s work over the years to change this narrative, because we know these tragedies are preventable.
Prevention is always better than the cure—it is far more impactful to provide expert antenatal care today than to manage a life-threatening crisis tomorrow.

Instead of traditional gifts, I am asking you to help me raise $5,000 (3,000,000 FCFA) to fund 15 midwife-led community sessions. No amount is too small; even a $1 can goes a very long way.

All donation details are on the flyer below. Please join me in giving the gift of survival—it’s the only way I want to celebrate🩷.

In 2 days, I’ll be turning another year older, but today, I’m just looking at these two versions of me and feeling completely overwhelmed with gratitude. 🥹✨

If I could sit down with my younger self, I’d tell her:

“Girll, you really need to see these.” (& I’m glad I could capture that conversation via this trend 😍)

You need to see how we kept our faith and kept our friends. Things we only once thought of are now real, and we aren’t walking this path alone. We have the best team, the best circle, and a life full of love. Thank you God!

Birthday loading..🎂 (& I’ll be sharing my one & only birthday wish tomorrow, please indulge me when I do okayyyy..).. 🧡

As leaders, we often assume that because a task seems small, it doesn't require guidance, but I’ve learned that assuming is where most disappointments begin.

In this photo, I’m role-playing with one of our For Mom and Baby Foundation super volunteers Susan Buweh just before she presented flowers & welcome words to one of our board members during our 5th anniversary stakeholders event.

It was her first time doing this, and because we practiced, she delivered perfectly and felt a genuine sense of pride in her role.

I now treat every assigned task as if it’s the person’s first time, taking a few minutes to solve potential issues at the root rather than correcting them after the fact.

Investing in people at the start is always better than managing disappointment at the end. After all, leadership is less about giving orders and more about ensuring everyone has the tools and confidence to succeed.
