Not anymore. After a full evaluation at our clinic, I designed a full-arch solution for his upper jaw — six Straumann ITI implants supporting a fixed prosthesis, loaded the same day. For his lower right side, two implants now anchor and stabilize his denture. His right side had limited bone volume, so we added a small bone graft to build a solid foundation. Every step was tailored to his specific case and bone condition.

Got diabetes AND heart disease — still a candidate for implants? 🤔
Les arrived with a complicated medical history — years of diabetes, hypertension, and coronary heart disease. On top of that, his upper front crowns had fallen off, several teeth were missing, and the bone in his front area was short.
After assessing his bone width and bite force, we placed 6 implants on top and 6 on the bottom. We used self-tapping implants in the front and 4.5mm implants in the back, where the chewing load is heavier.
