🥒 Cucumber Root Rot: Catch It Before the Crop Collapses
The damage can start below ground, before the wilting shows.
When cucumber plants begin to wilt, the roots and stem base deserve a closer look.
A published report from Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia, identified Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-cucumerinum in greenhouse cucumbers affected by root and stem rot. As the disease progressed, affected plants collapsed and died.
🔍 Make root health part of your routine crop checks.
Look for discoloration and decay around the roots and stem base. Review irrigation, drainage and greenhouse hygiene, and seek diagnostic confirmation when suspicious symptoms appear.
These checks can help guide earlier management decisions and inform preparations for the next planting cycle.
At CHICO, understanding local growing conditions and crop challenges is the starting point for discussing practical solutions.
