If your black patina isn’t coming out right, the problem might not be the patina… it might be the surface.
Here’s a pro trick:
🔥 apply black patina over a fully tinned sheet instead of raw copper.
The patina reacts better with the solder alloy (lead + zinc), so:
✔️ it comes out more even
✔️ darker
✔️ it “seals” the sheet
✔️ and the texture looks more organic and handmade
This kind of experimentation is what led me to the Sarcophagus texture.
Step-by-step:
1. Sand / scotch-brite
2. Deep clean (no grease, no fingerprints)
3. Full tinning (flux + solder)
4. Level or texture
5. Remove flux residue
6. Apply black patina
7. Neutralize + wash
8. Seal / protect

Si tu pátina negra no queda bien, puede que el problema no sea la pátina… sino la superficie.
Hoy te muestro un truco pro:
🔥 patinar una lámina estañada en vez de patinar cobre directo.
La pátina reacciona mejor con la aleación de soldadura (lead + zinc), así que:
✔️ queda más parejo
✔️ más oscuro
✔️ “sellas” la lámina
✔️ y la textura se vuelve más orgánica y artesanal
Este tipo de experimentos son los que me llevaron a la textura de Sarcophagus.
Paso a paso:
1. Pulir / scotch-brite
2. Limpieza extrema (sin grasa, sin manos)
3. Estaño total (flux + soldadura)
4. Texturizar / nivelar
5. Limpiar residuos de flux
6. Aplicar pátina negra
7. Neutralizar + lavar
8. Sellar / proteger
