💧𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 reveals the circulation of water across the surface of the Earth, tracing the pathways through ocean currents, river networks, and the migrations of whales and seabirds within them. Compressing a year into 10 seconds, the work reveals the ebb and flow of wet and dry seasons: rivers swell, nutrients are carried to the sea, phytoplankton blooms unfold, and vast migrations follow. Water emerges as a living planetary metabolism: a vascular system of exchange binding climate, ecosystem and life.
𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 continues our exploration of the invisible systems that connect life across scales, and draws on some of the most advanced Earth-observation systems including NASA and CNES satellites and the Copernicus Marine Service, global river databases and Antarctic tracking archives.
𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 is a permanent installation commissioned by Artis Aquarium, Amsterdam, installed in the main hall as a centrepiece of the visitor journey through one of Europe’s oldest public natural history institutions.
