Trachonas Estate is a 16 hectars orchard, situated at the foothills of Macheras Mountains in Cyprus. It is surrounded with small hills, and is facing directly the Macheras Mountains. It is situated 427 meters above the sea level and has a cold rainy winter, with possible light snow and a hot summer. The soil is fertile. The harvesting of olives in Cyprus is coming to an end. This year the volume harvested was not high and the quality average ( some areas produced relatively high acidity levels of olive oil).
This is the time that our overseas buyers visit the country to try our new crop of extra virgin olive oil and plan their purchases for the year.
For an experienced buyer, a good extra virgin olive oil is not only the chemical analysis but also the organoléptic (sensory) analysis.
