A Trombe Wall works for both heating and cooling.

# # # Trombe Wall Principle

A Trombe Wall is a passive solar heating and cooling system that uses a thermal mass wall to store and release heat. It's essentially a thick, insulated wall with a glazed surface facing the sun.

# # # # Heating (Winter):

1. **Sun's Rays:** During the day, sunlight passes through the glazing and strikes the dark-colored thermal mass wall.
2. **Heat Absorption:** The wall absorbs the solar energy and heats up.
3. **Heat Storage:** The thermal mass (often concrete or brick) stores the heat.
4. **Heat Release:** At night, the insulation prevents heat loss from the wall to the outside. The stored heat is slowly released into the living space, providing warmth.

# # # # Cooling (Summer):

1. **Sun's Rays:** Sunlight still reaches the wall, but the glazing is now covered.
2. **Heat Reduction:** The cover blocks most of the solar radiation, preventing the wall from overheating.
3. **Ventilation:** Openings at the top and bottom of the wall allow for natural ventilation. Cool air enters from the bottom, rises as it warms, and exits through the top, creating a convection current. This helps to circulate cool air throughout the space.

# # # Key Advantages of Trombe Walls

- **Passive Heating:** They utilize solar energy without the need for active mechanical systems.
- **Energy Efficiency:** They can significantly reduce reliance on conventional heating systems.
- **Thermal Mass Storage:** The wall's thermal mass provides a stable temperature throughout the day and night.
- **Natural Cooling:** The ventilation system provides a natural cooling effect during summer.

# # # Limitations

- **Solar Orientation:** The wall needs to be south-facing (in the Northern Hemisphere) to receive maximum sunlight.
- **Thermal Mass:** The wall needs to be sufficiently thick and made of materials with high thermal mass.
- **Visual Impact:** The glazing and ventilation openings can affect the aesthetics of the building.

Overall, Trombe Walls are a sustainable and energy-efficient way to heat and cool buildings, making them a valuable passive solar design strategy.

No jo, děje se toho hodně, svět se hodně rychle hroutí, a do toho rodina, práce, vztah A JAK SE Z TOHO NEZBLÁZNIT? JAK SE V TOM NEUTOPIT? Ale naopak tyto těžké chvíle zvládat s úsměvem? Upřímným? Vnitřním? Vnějším?

Mindful Camp 2024: Letní oslava přítomnosti na Sklenářce, super kombinace a super příští víkend. O TOM JAK ZŮSTÁVAT V SOBĚ v klidu i v neklidu. V pohybu, v práci, s dětma, při zpěvu - o tom bude můj program:

ZPÍVACÍ KRUH. Záměrem u bude užít si svůj hlas a společný souzvuk. Vyjdeme z ticha, a také se do ticha vrátíme. To, co se bude dít mezí tím, záleží na každém z nás. Jakou část sebe se nám podaří vyjádřit, rozezvučet, rozezpívat. A zároveň slyšet ostatní. Pomocníky nám budou tradiční písně, autorské mantry a když se nám dílo podaří, objeví se improvizované písně okamžiku.

A taky si spolu zazpíváme pár písní během úvodní kakaové ceremonie.

Určite si zabroukám a snad i zahulákáme během ecstatic dance.

In June we had the honor to partner with FreeandReal and other organizations for a two week long Erasmus+ training.

Five people from the Czech Republic could practice and learn about natural building, agroforestry, solar electricity and experience the community lifestyle on the off grid premises in northern Evia, Greece.

It was a very unique and enriching experience and we are looking forward to more cooperation with FreeandReal.

Are you ready?
We are very excited to announce our unique Erasmus funded training opportunity!

🗓️From May 22th to June 3rd 2024, the FreeandReal School of Sustainability, will welcome 30 motivated participants from 5 countries, who together with 4 skilled trainers, will get their hands dirty and minds full on sustainability and resilience in practice. As the climate crisis and its effects are becoming more prominent year after year, our response is skill sharing, resilient community building and creating a new paradigm of sustainable life.

🎯The aim of this 13 day funded training experience, is to combine the basic aspects of sustainable infrastructure in the topics of , , and .

🏘️Participants will be staying in the FreeAndReal offgrid "test site", at the natural buildings of FreeAndReal, will be “powered” by plant based cuisine, and experience a communal sustainable lifestyle within walking distance by the sea!

🛠️We shall be mainly working on a new 100sqm strawbale building at the mountain site called Telethrion, installing and upgrading solar systems, planting trees and creating new swales and many more, combining theory and practice, using innovative non formal educational methods. And enjoying every moment.

✊🏻We welcome all motivated youth workers and leaders (NO AGE LIMIT) interested into the topics of practical sustainability and resilience and live in , , , , and .
