At the 54th EDTNA/ERCA International Conference in Gdańsk, Poland, we’re putting the spotlight on the nurses at the heart of kidney care.

This year's theme, "Mind Matters in Nephrology: Caring Beyond the Kidneys," highlights the importance of integrated patient-centered care, a focus we're also bringing to our FME Corporate Education Session.

We invite you to join our session “Elevating Renal Care: From Technical Delivery to Integrative Care” on Sunday, September 27 in Hall 4.

Our team will showcase our Home and In-Center therapy solutions, with a focus on supporting nurses in delivering high-quality care across different settings and throughout the patient journey.

We're also proud to contribute 40 oral and poster presentations from our NephroCare nurses across 13 countries.

We’re looking forward to meaningful conversations with the nephrology nursing community.

📢 New Study Associates Hemodiafiltration (HDF) with a 28% Lower Relative Risk of all-cause mortality

A newly-published multinational real-world evidence study involving nearly 20,000 patients used a target trial emulation approach and found that hemodiafiltration (HDF) was associated with a 28% lower relative risk of all-cause mortality compared with those receiving high-flux hemodialysis. Published in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, the findings add to the substantial and growing body of evidence supporting HDF for people living with kidney failure.

As Fresenius Medical Care continues its nationwide rollout of HDF/HVHDF across the United States, we're expanding access to this advanced therapy and helping more patients benefit from the latest innovations in kidney care. Through research, innovation, and clinical excellence, we're working to improve outcomes for people living with kidney disease.

What if AI could help make kidney-friendly meal planning more personal? For people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD), planning meals can mean navigating complex nutritional requirements while also considering personal preferences, cultural tastes, and favorite cuisines.

In the latest Research in Brief, Sheng-Han Yueh, Data Scientist at The Renal Research Institute (RRI), shares how researchers developed an AI-assisted system to support dietitians in creating more personalized meal plans.

Drawing from a database of more than 300 kidney-friendly recipes, the system helps curate meals based on both clinical needs and individual preferences. Combined with dietitian oversight, this two-step approach aims to make meal planning more flexible, practical, and easier to follow.

With the support of his care team, he has learned to adapt, making treatment part of his life rather than letting it define it.

Miguel says, "Dialysis is a heavy burden in everyday life, but it keeps me going. If it weren’t for dialysis, I wouldn’t be here today."

A diagnosis of chronic kidney disease can bring uncertainty and many questions about what life will look like. But as shown by Miguel, it doesn't mean life has to stop.
