bts of running 537km across the atacama desert - i’ve been sharing the training but there’s a lot more happening behind the scenes to make a project like this happen that nobody really sees. the logistics, the planning, budgets, calls, emails, all the things that go wrong and the things that somehow work out 🤞🏻

my longest run in a while! started the morning teaching yoga and it was so cute because joined for the yoga class and the first 17km which always makes the run more fun.

i got hungry around 18km so i stopped for snacks, had a toilet break and then kept going 🥰

the goal isn’t to run fast or go hard. the goal is to get the kms in, get my legs used to the distance, practice fueling and figure things out as i go.

it’s ok to walk and it’s ok to need an extra snack...it’s all part of the training.

35km done and now i’m very excited that my rest day starts now 🦦🥰❤️

green flag he didn’t leave me on seen 🫠 “our bodies are the greatest instruments we’ll ever own” is the painting series painted from our conversation about my running journey. commissioned by his series explores the potential and strength of the human body.

we went for a run and spoke about movement, curiosity and the stories we tell ourselves about our bodies. somewhere along the way many of us learnt to treat our bodies and ourselves like projects to fix and forgot that we are more than our performance, pace or aesthetics.

maybe they're instruments that we take care of and tune so that we can explore the world, go on adventures, stay curious, connect with others, experience joy and discover what we're capable of ❤️

one of the questions we discussed at 's mini retreat was “what is your relationship to rest?”
i think previously my relationship has gone from one extreme to another.

before i started running, it was yoga and maybe i was so extreme into the stillness. then now running and training for these big ultramarathons, rest is something that’s part of the plan because i’d trained hard and something i deserved because i know my body needs time to recover so that i can train again.

when it comes to work, i’m not sure i ever intentionally stop to rest. it’s changing again though because a few days ago i felt really stuck with something i was working on and usually i would just sit there trying to force myself to find clarity or a good idea or some huge productive moment. but instead i lay down for a bit, i went for a walk, looked at pretty things just because it makes me happy, treated myself to a gelato and just let myself have a moment to enjoy. i came back home, gave it another shot but it didn’t work so i let it go. i think this is rest?

yesterday i gave myself half a day to be offline and not available. i think that’s rest too?

i’m still figuring it out my relationship to rest and i know now that rest isn’t always lying down or doing nothing. maybe it’s just letting myself enjoy my life without feeling like i should be doing something else. trusting that not every moment needs to be “productive” and creating enough space for life to happen ❤️

this trend but with intention 🫠

my friend is everythingggg. she’s a singer, performer, dancer, entertainer, actress, creator, voice coach…the list goes on…one thing she’s really taught me through our friendship is how to express myself more, to play, to stop overthinking every little thing and to let myself be silly, dramatic, flirty, loud, awkward, expressive…human.

i shared recently that i went to a yoga retreat and it was actually the first time in my life i felt fully and authentically myself with no mask. i also didn’t realise how many masks i had been carrying.

so this one was just for fun, to practice being seen a little more and maybe a reminder for you too to loosen up, play and express yourself a little more 🫶🏻

i arrived close to burnout. my eyes have been twitching and i mean i shared my meltdown the other day 😅 it's been a bit messy….so i deleted all the apps and gave myself these days to fully switch off. what a privilege to be able to do that and it was exactly what i needed.

i may be biased coz is one of my besties but not only is she just an incredible human, she's an amazing teacher, mover, leader and space holder. the retreat was warm, kind, light, safe, lush…just everything. and the fooooood 😭 brooklyn's husband .music and his dad (they are a family of italian chefs and his dad flew in from italy for this!) cooked for us and every bite was just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 to be able to share that with others, laugh, hug, move, dance…it was just the best.

we need to slow down to create space for clarity, creativity and joy.

i love having running goals because they give you something to work towards…so i gave my manager one 🤭 i know altitude is its own thing. you can’t fully prepare for and it’s not just about being “fit” but what we CAN do is to start building a stronger foundation now. strength training, improving aerobic fitness and slowly getting more comfortable doing hard things.

is such a yes woman that i knew she’d say yes after a little convincing and we’re doing ittttt!!!

week 2 of 💖✨ one of my favourite things about the program is watching people realise they’re capable of more than they thought.

people are running after work, in the rain, during lunch breaks, after rough days, adjusting the schedule instead of quitting, learning to listen to their bodies, getting strong and gaining confidence 🥹
