Meet 15-year-old Swarnali, who lives in a village in Dowarabazar Upazila in northern Bangladesh. She comes from a family with irregular income, where access to basic hygiene products is not guaranteed. Swarnali struggled to manage menstrual hygiene and used cloth due to lack of access to sanitary materials, which often made her feel uncomfortable, especially at school. Moreover, without proper hygiene, it can increase the risk of infections.
That is why 600 adolescent girls received dignity kits with essential menstrual hygiene items. Today, Swarnali can manage her period with greater comfort and confidence, including at school.
“Now I feel more comfortable and less worried when I’m at school,” says Swarnali.
