Course Recap

Wrapping up May, our "ERCP Advanced" course once again provided a valuable opportunity for hands-on training and interdisciplinary exchange. 💪

The programme explored advanced ERCP techniques, structured approaches to challenging interventions and decision-making in complex clinical scenarios, alongside many other practical aspects of therapeutic endoscopy.

Many thanks to our trainer team Henrike Lenzen and Prof. Dr. med. Tobias Weismüller for sharing their expertise and supporting the interactive exchange throughout the course. 👏

Course Spotlight – Mastering POEM 💡

POEM is an advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedure that requires in-depth anatomical knowledge, precise technique and confident management of complex clinical situations.

This course focuses on the key aspects of peroral endoscopic myotomy — from the anatomy and pathophysiology of achalasia to indications, limitations, myotomy techniques and complication management. Practical exercises on ex-vivo models support participants in deepening their procedural understanding in a hands-on setting.

The format is tailored to gastroenterologists with experience in therapeutic endoscopy, as well as experienced endoscopy nursing staff, offering an advanced training setting to further develop procedural expertise in POEM.

WEO Masterclass

Another inspiring session of the WEO Masterclass is behind us! 🚀

Together with Torsten Beyna, Leena Kylänpää and George Webster, participants explored key aspects of modern ERCP practice — from stricture management strategies and intubation & cannulation techniques to the latest approaches in cholangioscopy and pancreatoscopy.

The exchange of experiences, perspectives, and clinical insights once again made this session truly valuable for everyone involved.

This webinar also marked the final online session before we all meet in person for the on-site event in July — and the excitement is definitely growing! 🤩

We can’t wait to continue the discussions and collaborations face-to-face soon.

Course Spotlight – ESD 💡

ESD is a highly specialised technique that demands precision, structured training and a deep understanding of tissue handling.

Our pathway consists of two dedicated courses: ESD Basic introduces the fundamental principles, step-by-step techniques and practical handling required to build a solid foundation. The Advanced course then takes participants further, focusing on complex lesions, difficult anatomical locations, extended dissection techniques and strategies for managing challenging situations.

Together, both formats support a progressive learning journey — from developing essential skills to refining advanced techniques in a hands-on training environment.

The World Bee Day on 20 May is an annual observance to remind people of the importance to come together and protect bees from global crises.

The biodiversity of bees suffers due to the use of pesticides, the intrusion of pests, improper agricultural practices, chemicals, and similar factors.

With this in mind, it is more important than ever that we collaborate to help preserve biodiversity, support sustainable agriculture, and ensure nutrition security for future generations.

At MICRO-TECH, we are proud to contribute to this initiative by maintaining our own beehives. It provides bees with a protected and safe environment where they can thrive. The hives are supervised by a professional beekeeper who regularly monitors and checks the health of the bees.

ESGE Days 2026 once again highlighted the pace at which our industry continues to evolve and the ongoing importance of meaningful, face-to-face exchange. 🤝

Course Spotlight – EUS Compact 💡

Endoscopic ultrasound combines high-resolution imaging with diagnostic and interventional possibilities — making it an essential skill in modern gastroenterology.

This course offers a focused introduction to EUS, from anatomical orientation and imaging principles to tumour staging, lesion assessment and tissue acquisition. With a balance of theoretical input and practical exercises, participants gain a structured understanding of EUS techniques and their role in clinical decision-making.

Designed for physicians in gastroenterology, junior specialists and endoscopists with initial EUS experience, it supports the development of confidence in both diagnostic assessment and guided interventions.
