Lovely people, community involvement, local businesses, always learning; Trava provided a tea blending bar, Wildflower served lattes and yerba; another local business provided fresh fruit cups, San Antonio style 🍍🌶️ Thank you to all the volunteers and participants in this delightful event! 💚

It’s that time of year….time to start Fire Cider! School has started, seasons are changing, we all need a little boost to keep our systems strong. This Oxymel will be ready in a few weeks. Ours will include a variety of locally grown peppers, plus garlic, onion, turmeric, ginger, horseradish, black pepper, rosemary, local honey, apple cider vinegar, all organic. Oxymels! An ancient remedy made from fruit, herbs, apple cider vinegar, and local honey (Holdman Honey to be exact) We make a new one every few weeks during the Summer. They are just the thing for replenishing electrolytes after being out in the heat. It’s been a long time since there were bees at my place, let alone be able to hear them. Recent rains and lots of hard work have drawn them back. This is Cenizo. Although known as Texas purple sage, it’s not a sage, but more closely related to snapdragons. Edible, and usable as a medicinal in teas, for colds, cough, and congestion. This one is a hardy landscape beauty in our area, making a medicinal herb available right in your own yard. We are harvesting it right now for our Texas Wildflower tea. Of course, leaving plenty for the pollinators!

This picture makes me smile! Trava doesn’t have lots of fancy packaging, a big marketing budget, or thousands of followers. We are a local brand, making, growing, and wild harvesting herbs for our products. There is at least one herb in everything we make that is grown or wild harvested from our place in the Texas Hill Country. We are true small batch producers of unique herbal teas, smoking blends, incense, elixirs, salves and oxymels. The most exciting thing about us, is our followers. Those who enjoy our products often gift them to others or take them along when they travel. This picture was shared by my friend (Andrea C Robbins whom I met because of Trava) Andrea met this sweet lady on a recent trip to Germany, at a fest, and shared one of our teas. She was excited because, being from eastern Europe, she knew the meaning of the name Trava (by the way, it means grass or fresh herbs,….. that part of the world is where my own ancestry is rooted) My mind is blown to think the herbs I grew and blended made it all the way back to the ‘old country’ where my ancestors probably also had herbal knowledge. My grandmas would be proud. 💚

Ticks are in the news a lot lately. Honestly, they're the most scary thing in the woods, IMHO, due to the diseases they carry with Alpha-Gal Syndrome being the scariest. It turns out a very specific acupuncture technique had an 88% success rate suppressing this allergic reaction! This is important news as currently, the only medical advice on treating AGS is "Don't eat meat". This treatment may really make a great difference in people's lives.
