Henna or mehendi is an ancient body art from India. Leaves of Henna plant are dried and used to create a powder. This powder is mixed with water and made into a paste. The paste is applied on the body (traditionally hands and feet) to create patterns. When the paste is dry, the Henna can be washed/scraped off leaving a dark reddish brown coloured pattern on the skin which is similar to a temporary

tattoo which will wear off in about 10 days. Traditionally women adorned themselves with Henna patterns at weddings and festivals in parts of Asia, East Mediterranean and the Middle East. Henna has now become a growing trend in many parts of the world and has evolved in application and design.
