This Sunday, in Penryn, Cornwall, I'm offering a breathwork session to anyone who has been holding a lot lately. For anyone who's been feeling their stress levels on the rise. For anyone who needs to reset and start over.

This is your chance to put it all aside for a moment and to spend time listening to your breath. Your heartbeat. The wisdom of your inner voice.

All are welcome, and you don't need any experience to take part. I will guide you from the moment you enter the room and ensure that you step into this incredible practice feeling assured and supported.

I can think back to many times when I’ve said “take a deep breath” to someone who’s stressed or overwhelmed and is struggling to find a sense of calm.

While the intention is right (to focus on the breath), it’s actually not the correct solution to bring about a state of calm. When big or deep breathing get too big or deep, they can lead to over-breathing, which leads to too much CO2 being offloaded.

This then inhibits oxygen being released from the blood into the tissues and the brain.

It’s such a beautiful working relationship between CO2 and oxygen, and I didn’t fully understand this nuance until I started my breath science practitioner training with at the . Small changes to wording make the world of difference.

Lower levels of CO2 can quickly lead to feelings of anxiety and panic, which deepen over-breathing… and so the cycle continues! 😅

This is why “take a deep breath” can be counterintuitive for someone who is already feeling overwhelmed. Taking it slow and making it gentle is the best route to calm.😌

Could you ever fathom that such a simple thing as the breath could hold the keys to your liberation? 🤍

It’s an autonomous act, but it’s also one we can control. Through conscious practice and awareness of our breathing habits, we can quite literally shape our future health and wellbeing.

It all starts with a single conscious breath.🌬️

When there’s so much going on around you, it can be difficult to keep your focus. To stay grounded. To stay open. There are so many facets of life that leave you wanting to cut yourself off. To steal away and hide.

But instead of closing down, why don’t you try to connect to your breath?

Try it now. A gentle inhale followed by a slow exhale that reminds your body it’s still here. Still alive. Still capable of feeling and experiencing the good parts of life… the magical parts.

Your breath is always available to you. In the middle of a hard conversation. In the scroll. In the silence after the news. It’s the one thing that can bring you back to yourself when everything else is pulling you away.

So today, if you feel yourself shutting down, try this instead. Pause. Breathe. Feel your feet on the floor. Put your phone down. Look at the person in front of you. Let yourself be moved by something small and beautiful.

Stay open enough to let life keep reaching you.
It all starts with just one breath.

The most simple breathwork practice that I turn to all the time is the act of just noticing my breath.

Simple breath awareness.🌬️

It’s one of the first practices I teach, to help people like you get into their bodies.

👉🏽 It helps you channel your awareness and focus
👉🏽 It helps you develop a familiarity with your breath
👉🏽 It helps you switch from being busy to being present

Try it for yourself. Use the slides about to guide you, without trying to change the way you’re breathing… just starting with noticing.

We all have to start somewhere, and awareness is the perfect beginning. 🤍

Because sometimes it’s so easy to forget.

To take for granted the very breath that holds us steady in this precious life.
Because sometimes the world becomes unbearable and our fears become too loud.
We lose sight of the privilege it is to exist when others cannot.

Come back to yourself.
Come back to your breath.
Come back to the simple truth that you are here, now, in this. And what a gift that is. ✨🙏🏽🤍🫶🏽

Conscious connected breathwork is one of the most powerful tools I know for helping you come back to yourself, quiet the noise, tamper down stress, anxiety, and overwhelm, and JUST BE.
