The Adams boys are back! 🏉

When I had my stomach surgery I never thought I’d get the opportunity to play Rugby again, nevermind see the day I play with my brother again. But tomorrow is that day and another milestone ticked off the list ✅ The last time we donned the same shirt was for in 2023 so to me, this is special 🇷🇴

I can’t wait to get on the pitch with Jimmy and run riot over the Welsh for 🤝👊

Remember kids, always remember to protect your scars from the sun ☀️ also remember to layer up the rest of your body 🤦‍♂️ don’t worry this was only on arrival day so I’ve not looked like an idiot the whole time I’ve been here 👀😂

Happy armed forces day to all serving soldiers and veterans! ⚔️ Over 12 years spent serving with some absolute legends 👏 Serving in the Army gave me so much more than bad knees and a creaky spine, it gave me friends that I call brothers.

When recovering from surgery it wasn’t the sympathetic messages that got me through, it was the squaddie banter and being mildly bullied from the soldiers I served with! Thank you all! ⚔️🎉💪

APPRECIATION POST - Louis Richardson 💪
There are very few people in my life that I know would answer the call when sh*t hits the fan. But this guy, this guy always would!
From being prepubescent toe rags forever making bad choices, to completing an Ironman 70.3, Louis has always been there. He pushes me to do things that I never thought imaginable with my condition.
Louis, thank you for encouraging me everyday to be a better man. You are an inspiration without even knowing and I can’t thank you enough! Thank you for being the best mate a man could ask for and I hope in 30 years we will still be pushing each other to do crazy things 💪

I love you, Brother! 🤜 🤛

Please give Louis a follow on his new Triathlon page, he’s a beast (A short beast though)! 👀😅

18 months ago, to the day, I had life saving stoma surgery. Fast forward 18 months I cross Bolton 70.3 finish line! 🎉

From before I can remember sports and fitness was my passion. I love pushing my body past its limits. My aim is to show every person with a stoma that we still can 🦾 So if you’ve got a stoma and you fancy doing something you don’t think you can, sign the F up and let’s do hard sh*t! 🤜 🤛

IRONMAN BOLTON 70.3 - RACE DEBRIEF 🏊 🚲 🏃🏼

After a 3:45am wake up call, we headed for the Athletes bus to take us to the race start. At this point my heart rate was already 105bpm and I felt so sick with nerves 😅
-
1.9km Swim - The speedy competitors race start was 6:15am which left slower swimmers like myself gradually moving forward to the start line. I eventually got in the water at around 7:10am. I was aiming for around 45 mins but after getting out I realised my wetsuit had somehow managed to come undone, leaving me feeling like I was towing a cruise ship 😅 finished at 50mins.
-
90km Bike - the first 40km I felt good, legs felt fresh, head was in a good place and I felt positive 💪 This is where I had to do my first bag empty, as I got off my bike my hamstring decided to completely cramp up. A quick stretch and some electrolytes and I cracked on. The one thing I was dreading all day was the BIG hill (twice)! I am not the best cyclist but after the first rep of the hill, I thought it was all over! Both quads cramped up whilst cruising downhill and I was in agony. With 20km left to go and another rep of heartbreak hill to go, I had to really dig deep! Another 2 bag empties on the bike did not help with time! Bike 3:41hrs
-
21km Run - Coming into T2 I managed to roll my ankle which set me up for a great start 🤦‍♂️ there was no way I wasn’t getting through this half marathon, I had to finish! My original goal pace was 5:30 per kilometre but had to slow that down to around 6:15. I just put my head down and counted down the Kilometres. I did a fair chunk of walking to try stretch off the legs but at the end of the day, I finished it.
-
Finish line - on my route in I saw cheering me on and I knew I’d done it! Getting on the red carpet I saw my mum, sisters and girlfriend, this was the best feeling in the world! Having the people around me that have been there through my journey from Soldier to Stoma to Ironman! Thank you!!
Finish time - 7:05:10. I am more than happy with that but we can only get better and learn from this as I first! 💪

When people ask what finishing Bolton 70.3 meant to me, this is it!

18 months ago to the day, I underwent stoma surgery. Since then, I have overcome some mental and physical challenges but nothing on what this was like!

Even before having surgery, I would have never pushed myself to do something so out of my comfort zone without the Army volunteering me, But now it’s different. I feel like I have to prove to myself that I still can do things that are going to put me in the pain cave.

If you have a stoma bag, you can still do it! Training will be hard with having chronic fatigue and a serious lack of immune system but at the end of it all, this feeling is unmatched!
