PROTEINMAXXING IS TRENDING β BUT MORE PROTEIN ISNβT ALWAYS BETTER πͺπΎ
Protein is everywhere right now.
Protein coffee.
Protein cereal.
Protein bars.
Protein desserts.
Protein shakes.
And social media is encouraging people to push their protein intake higher and higher.
Protein is important.
It helps support:
β
Muscle maintenance
β
Recovery
β
Healthy ageing
β
Normal body function
β
Satiety as part of a balanced meal
But here is what often gets lost online:
You do not need to turn every food you eat into a βhigh-proteinβ product.
For most people, the smarter goal is to get enough protein from a balanced variety of foods.
Think:
π₯ Eggs
π Fish
π Lean poultry
π« Beans and lentils
π₯ Yogurt or quark
π± Tofu and soy foods
π₯ Nuts and seeds
And remember β protein is only one part of your diet.
Your body still needs vegetables, fruit, fibre-rich carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and adequate fluids.
If you exercise heavily, are older, are losing weight or have certain health needs, your protein requirements may be different.
So instead of asking:
βHow much protein can I possibly eat?β
Ask:
βAm I getting enough protein while still eating a balanced diet?β
