Particle Metrix

Particle Metrix frontier technology - cooperative spirit They both have many years of experience in the analysis of various micro- and nanoparticles.

Particle Metrix was founded in 2004 by the chemist Margret Böck and physicist Dr. Hanno Wachernig in Meerbusch near Dusseldorf. During the first two years, the company focused on counseling work for the particle characterization business. In 2006, Particle Metrix started developing its own nanoparticle
analyzers. Today, Particle Metrix's know-how comprises the development, production and sale of

particle analysis devices using nanoparticle tracking technology. The company headquarter is nowadays located in Inning am Ammersee at the gates of Munich, and in addition to the administration and development department, also includes production as well as the service and support center. An experienced team of electrical engineers, chemists, biologists and physicists is available to the
customer to competently answer all possible questions. In addition to the large area of technical nanoparticles (e.g. colloidal and macromolecular solutions, emulsions, dispersions or nanobubbles), bio-medical and clinical applications play a central role for Particle Metrix. The company has specialized in the characterization of extracellular vesicles, exosomes, liposomes and viruses, using both scatter and fluorescence-based methods. The focus of
interest is on determining the size and concentration as well as measuring zeta potential of particles in the nanometer scale

How can we maximize water recovery from high-salinity industrial effluents?

A recent study published in the Journal of Sustainable Metallurgy highlights the potential of CO₂ nanobubbles in hydrate-based desalination (HBD).

To verify the effectiveness of the process, the researchers used the Particle Metrix ZetaView® NTA system to visualize and characterize the CO₂ nanobubbles, providing detailed size distribution and concentration data essential for validating this sustainable, chemical-free treatment approach.

We are proud to see our technology contributing to innovations in the mining and metals industry that focus on both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Are you exploring your own nanobubble applications? We would be happy to discuss how our nanoparticle tracking analysis can support your research and specific analytical requirements.

New Application Note: Impact of EV-Labeling on Zeta Potential

Our latest case study explores how different labeling strategies influence the characterization of EV subpopulations.
While particle concentration remains stable across various fluorophores, the study reveals that immunolabeling can significantly shift Zeta Potential toward positive values, particularly with 488nm dyes. In contrast, 640nm fluorophores and CellMask™ membrane stains were found to better preserve the vesicles' native surface charge.
These findings highlight the importance of selecting the right labeling strategy to ensure accurate physico-chemical data in F-NTA.

Publication Spotlight | Proven Performance: ZetaView® Excels in New Comparative Study

We are pleased to see the ZetaView® featured in a recent head-to-head comparison of nanoparticle analysis instruments.

The system is highlighted for its versatility, offering multiparametric analysis of individual nanoparticles, particularly relevant for lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). In addition to calibration-free measurement of particle size and concentration, it also determines zeta potential and uses one or multiple lasers to characterize fluorophore-labeled or intrinsically fluorescent nanoparticle components.

The study also explicitly indicates the high sample throughput of ZetaView®, making it a powerful tool for researchers working with complex nanoparticle systems.

ISEV 2026 Wrap-up - Thank you, San Juan!

As the doors close on , the Particle Metrix team is heading home with a lot of inspiration (and maybe a little bit of sand in our shoes!).

It was a great week of science, networking, and high-level exchange.

Our week in review:
- ZetaView® Evolution in Action: From our Demo Corner to the Lunch Sponsor Presentation and our Booth, we had the pleasure of engaging with so many of you. Thank you to everyone who joined us to experience our latest NTA technology for analyzing concentration, size, and fluorescence-based subpopulations live.

- Bridging Academia & Industry: A special highlight was participating in the Career Panel discussion. We strongly believe that fostering dialogue between academia and industry is key to supporting the next generation of researchers.

- Community & Connection: Beyond the science, it was a pleasure to reconnect with long-time customers, partners, and friends over great conversations and barista-made coffee.

A big thank you to the entire International Society for Extracellular Vesicles community and to San Juan for making this event so impactful.
We’re excited to see how the insights gained here will shape your research in the months ahead. See you at the next one!

Big news for EV research: Particle Metrix x in-EV!

We are happy to announce a new collaboration between Particle Metrix and , combining our expertise and tools to support your research on EVs.

Together, we are exploring how to efficiently isolate extracellular vesicles (EVs) from milk, a very challenging matrix due to its high abundance of proteins and particles such as casein micelles, lipoproteins, and other interfering components.

With in-EV’s innovative EV-Down Milk kit, it is possible to isolate EVs while significantly reducing background protein content.
Using the ZetaView®, we can clearly track and validate this purification process, providing precise particle characterization and insight into sample quality.

Stay tuned, an exclusive application note is ongoing!
