So what is different about therapy for expats? Well, expats often struggle to settle into life in a new country. There are specific challenges such as language barriers, adapting to different customs and rules, homesickness or expectations about a new life being disappointed. But what is even more difficult for many expats, is that underlying issues that were dormant suddenly rise to the surface when you find yourself in a new environment far from your old support systems. It is possible to ignore, or even be unaware of our own issues for years until they punch us in the face as it were and this can happen when we move country.
I offer both understanding ( having emigrated twice myself) and tools to deal with both the new challenges and the deeper issues now emerging. There is something both stark and truthful about the expat experience and it is an ideal moment in life to come to therapy. As an integrative therapist therapist and counselor, I support my clients using a variety of techniques, approaches and interventions from various schools of therapy to leave no stone unturned. I see therapy as an opportunity,: an opportunity to gain insights and to embrace positive change. I look forward to meeting you online or in my practice in Malaga and accompanying you on a path of self-discovery and personal growth.
