Christmas in August? 🎄
A short video from the seed stand in Ambrolauri, Tlugi, Georgia, which is the source of a large share of the seed used in Danish and Western European Nordmann fir Christmas tree production.
In early August, our member Fair Trees® collected samples of cones in the area.
From 27 September 2026, the EU’s new EmpCo rules will apply. Among other things, they are intended to better protect consumers against vague or unsubstantiated environmental claims and introduce stricter requirements for information used in marketing.
This is also relevant to Christmas trees. When consumers encounter labels and claims relating to responsibility, the environment or sustainability on a Christmas tree, it must be clear what the claim covers and what evidence it is based on.
The value chain of a Christmas tree begins long before the tree reaches our living rooms – right back at the seed and the people who collect the cones in Georgia. 🎄
