Liver channel, aka deep lateral or medial line of fascia or leg Jueyin…
Key Functions & Connections
• Muscular Control: It is traditionally said to “govern the tendons.” When the liver channel is balanced, movement is fluid and flexible. If stagnant, it can manifest as physical tension, particularly in the neck, hips, and inner thighs.
• Detoxification & Storage: Beyond filtering blood, this channel is associated with the storage of blood and the regulation of its volume during activity and rest.
• The Emotional Valve: The liver channel is most sensitive to stress and frustration. “Liver Qi Stagnation” is a common concept used to describe the feeling of being “stuck”—physically in the ribs or emotionally in one’s life path.
In modern movement contexts, the liver channel aligns closely with the Deep Front Line of myofascia. It shares a relationship with the adductors and the pelvic floor, acting as a stabilizer for the medial arch of the foot and the central axis of the body. When we work with this channel, we aren’t just addressing an organ; we are addressing the body’s ability to plan, pivot, and move with intentionality.
