In this video, Tayta Willak, 7th-generation Kichwa Otavalo Yachak and co-founder of Kinti Yaya — offers a different way of understanding that feeling. In the Kichwa tradition, it isn't treated as a deficiency to correct, but as distance from Pachamama, the ground you come from and depend on.

We’ve been exploring this question for a while at Kinti Yaya - Andean Healing Sanctuary & Institute Ecuador.

One of us comes from a 7-generation Kichwa healing lineage in Ecuador. The other from nature-based therapy and modern scientific approach to psychology and wellbeing.

A New Chapter Begins!

For over 20 years, many of you have walked this path with Tayta Willak through Pakarinka Ushay.

Today, we are excited to welcome you to the next chapter of our journey: Kinti Yaya - Ayahuasca Retreat & Andean Healing Institute!

Kinti, the hummingbird, symbolizes transformation and connection in the Andes. Yaya means elder and guide in Kichwa. Together, the name reflects the spirit of the path we are walking.

Over the years, our vision has grown. Together, Tayta Willak and Maja now continue this work as equal partners, creating Kinti Yaya, a sanctuary for healing, learning, and the sharing of the wisdom of the Andes in a warm valley just one hour from Quito International Airport.

Alongside the ancestral traditions, we are also placing a stronger focus on preparation, integration, and nature-based therapeutic support.

While many things have changed, the heart of our work remains the same. We continue to honor the ancestral traditions with authenticity, humility, and care.

The roots remain. The journey continues.
