Dear friends,

Can't imagine that it has been almost a year since we gathered in Viljandi, Estonia for the 1st Sowa Rigpa International Forum. The quality talks we had over dreams, sleep medicine, herbs and future development of Sowa Rigpa is still echoing among the Estonian community.

From 1st to 3rd November, the 2nd Sowa Rigpa International Forum will take place in Kyoto, Japan. Organized by Masumi Nakano and her team (Sorig Khang Japan)

Sellel Foorumil osaleb esinejaid mitmetest riikidest sealhulgas mitmed oma valdkonda tundvad inimesed Euroopast, USAst ja Eestist. Lisaks modernset meditsiini ja psühholoogiat tundvaid spetsialiste. Foorumi roll on arutada kuidas Sowa Rigpa ja sellega seonduva kaudu saab paremini mõista meele toimimist, emotsioonide toimimist, uneprotsessi ning kaasa aidata vaimsele tervisele ja seonduvale. Neile teemadele on pühendatud Foorumi kaks esimest päeva. Kolmandal päeval esitavad oma uurimiustöid need osalejad kes on läbinud 4 aastase Sowa Ripga õppeprogrammi.

✨The pearl of the Forum 2024 program is, of course, two exhibitions that will take place at the same venue, Sakala Keskus in – Medicinal Thangka Painting Exhibition 🎨and Medicinal Herb Exhibition. 🌿
✨They will continue throughout the duration of the Forum 14-16 June. Both exhibitions will be opened at 8-19.
✅All the Forum participants, organizing team members and volunteers will have a free access to both exhibitions.
✅For all other visitors the entrance fee is
10€ per person,
kids 0-7y.o. (accompanied by an adult) – free entrance.

1️⃣ Medicinal Thangka Painting Exhibition 🎨
Created between 1687 and 1703, these Thangka paintings were commissioned by Desi Sangye Gyatso, the regent of the fifth Dalai Lama, who assumed interim leadership of Tibet following the Dalai Lama's passing in 1682.
Desi Sangye Gyatso's primary motivation for commissioning these illustrations was to provide clarity in interpreting ancient texts, placing significant emphasis on accurate depictions of various elements, including the interpretation of omens and dreams for diagnosis, detailed depictions of medicinal herbs and instruments, and intricate diagrams of human anatomy.
These Thangkas are remarkably valued as ancient art of Tibet as well as represent an essential educational tool, blending Tibetan Buddhist traditions with centuries-old medical knowledge.
The canvases impress with their accuracy and detailed depiction of human anatomy.

2️⃣ Medicinal Herb Exhibition🌿
Section is focused on the traditional healing practices of Tibet. It provides a comprehensive overview of Tibetan herbal medicine, highlighting the importance of natural remedies and holistic healing. The section features various herbs and medicinal plants native to Tibet, along with detailed explanations of their properties and applications.
Visitors will have the opportunity to witness live demonstrations of herbal medicine preparation and will be given some practical insights into the benefits of Tibetan medicine for maintaining health and wellness.
