May 17 marks World Hypertension Day, a global reminder to prioritize blood pressure health within our communities.

In Egypt, nearly 1 in 4 adults lives with hypertension, with increasing rates among younger age groups as well. Known as the “silent killer,” high blood pressure often develops without noticeable symptoms, yet it remains one of the leading preventable risk factors for heart attacks and strokes.

This World Hypertension Day, we encourage young adults to adopt heart-healthy habits early and motivate their families to regularly monitor their blood pressure. Reducing excess salt intake, staying physically active, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and knowing your numbers are simple yet powerful steps toward protecting long-term heart health.

Together, let’s raise awareness about hypertension prevention across Egypt and make heart health a priority for every generation.
