Here’s the backstory: When the body shifts into ketosis, it produces ketone bodies (like β-hydroxybutyrate) that can cross into the brain and serve as an alternative fuel. Most thermal receipts are coated with BPA or BPS — chemicals known as endocrine disruptors that can interfere with your hormones.
🔹 Studies show BPA can transfer from paper to your skin and even appear in urine after just a few hours of handling receipts.
🔹 Retail workers who touch hundreds daily often have higher levels of these chemicals in their bodies.
🔹 Even “BPA-free” receipts usually contain BPS — which research suggests may be just as harmful.

Over time, chronic exposure has been linked to hormone imbalance, metabolic issues, fertility concerns, and more.

Simple swaps make a difference:
✓ Ask for digital receipts
✓ Wash your hands after handling paper copies
