Step Closer to Clinical Excellence: Highlights of the Surgical Suturing Workshop! 🧵🪡

Driven by our passion for medical education and clinical skill development, the Luxor Medical Students' Association (LMSA-Luxor), in cooperation with the college administration, organized an exceptional scientific day dedicated to mastering essential surgical skills.

The event was held under the auspices of our esteemed leaders:
- Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shahat Badawy (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine).
- Prof. Dr. Mohamed Atito Hamed (Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs).

We were also honored by the presence and invaluable supervision of our distinguished faculty members:

What Did the Scientific Day Include? (Surgical Suturing Workshop)
The day was fully dedicated to equipping students with a fundamental surgical skill that every future doctor needs, featuring:
- Theoretical Session: Comprehensive guidelines on the principles of wound closure and the correct, safe handling of surgical instruments.
- Hands-on Workshop: An intensive practical training session where students practiced step-by-step under the direct guidance of our doctors, enhancing their clinical skills through direct application.

Field Visit: Luxor Medical Students to the Regional Blood Bank 🩸

In continuation of the blood donation campaign celebrating World Blood Donor Day, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Luxor Faculty of Medicine organized a student field visit to the Regional Blood Bank in Luxor, in cooperation with the Luxor Medical Students’ Association (LMSA).

The visit was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Sabreen Abdel-Jalil (President of the University), Prof. Dr. El-Saadi El-Ghoul (Vice President for Community Service), Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shahat Badawy (Dean of the Faculty), Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ateto (Vice Dean), and under the supervision of Dr. Amr Abdel-Rady Ismail (Coordinator of Community Activities at the Faculty).

All thanks and appreciation to Dr. Dina Abdel-Nabi (Assistant Lecturer of Family Medicine) for the coordination ❤️

🔬 Key stages of the blood unit lifecycle explored during the visit:
1- Donor Screening: Checking blood pressure, weight, and hemoglobin levels to ensure eligibility.
2️- Collection & Labeling: Drawing blood into specialized bags and assigning a unique barcode for tracking.
3️- Laboratory Testing: Screening samples to guarantee they are free from infectious diseases (Hepatitis B, C, and HIV).
4️- Component Separation: Using centrifuges to separate the blood into packed red blood cells, platelets, and plasma.
5️- Storage & Crossmatching: Storing components at specific temperatures and conducting final compatibility tests with the patient's blood before release.

The visit aimed to bridge theoretical medical knowledge with field training, highlighting the vital role of blood banks in maintaining a safe supply to support the healthcare system and save patient lives.

The workshop is held under the patronage of:

"Every Drop Counts" .. Blood Donation Campaign Recap at Luxor Faculty of Medicine!
In the framework of celebrating World Blood Donor Day, and in achievement of the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, the activities of the first day of the blood donation awareness campaign kicked off last Sunday. The campaign was organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Luxor Faculty of Medicine in cooperation with the Luxor Medical Students Association (LMSA Luxor), and with a distinguished participation from the Department of Medical Physiology.

The campaign is honored by the sponsorship and support of the university and faculty leadership:
- Prof. Dr. Sabreen Abdel-Jalil (President of the University)
- Prof. Dr. El-Saadi El-Ghoul El-Saadi (Vice President of the University for Community Service Affairs)
- Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shahat Badawy (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine)
- Dr. Amr Abdel-Rady Ismail (Lecturer of Internal Medicine and Nephrology and Coordinator of Community Activities at the Faculty)

All thanks and appreciation to Dr. Dina Abdel-Nabi (Assistant Lecturer of Family Medicine) for the coordination, and to Dr. Sahar Marei and Dr. Sara Zarif (Department of Medical Physiology) for the supervision and ex*****on, and to the heroes of LMSA who were present on the ground to spread awareness and promote the culture of volunteer work among their colleagues.

Our goal is not just for a day to pass, our goal is to spread the culture of giving, support the strategic stock of the regional blood bank, and save the life of every patient in need.

في إطار الاحتفال باليوم العالمي للتبرع بالدم، وتحقيقًا للهدف الثالث من أهداف التنمية المستدامة، انطلقت الأحد الماضي فعاليات اليوم الأول لحملة التوعية بالتبرع بالدم، والتي نظمها قطاع خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة بكلية طب جامعة الأقصر بالتعاون مع الجمعية العلمية لطلاب طب الأقصر (LMSA Luxor)، وبمشاركة متميزة من قسم الفسيولوجيا الطبية.

الحملة نظمت برعاية ودعم قيادات الجامعة والكلية:
