Every time I travel to teach or for a speaking engagement, I’m on the hunt for an amazing local yarn store. Today I got to return to the OG that started my love - Shout out Winter Haven and yarn shop!

Such a joy coming back to DEP’s management conference to be the keynote presenter for the second year in a row as part of the LWC team. We talked about building encouraged relationships and understanding the underpinnings of conflict. Truly a great joy and a wonderful group. Over the moon (ha ha ha) to get to come back to the beautiful Cape Canaveral!

The systems that are effective for neurotypical folks, end up leaving neurodivergent folks feeling ungrateful and unmotivated. Now we've all been hyperfixated - so we know that ain't true.

The reason compliance based methods do not work for neurodivergent folks is because its based in control, not reasoning. When we shift the thinking towards reason, incentive, and information, we create connection. If they question its a system, its likely because it's a system worth questioning!

There should never be a time where your trauma shakes your therapist - if they are advertising themselves as a trauma therapist. It is not your job to make your experiences easier, more palatable, or softer in order for your trauma therapist to be able to handle it.
