Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day — and it’s got me thinking about something we don’t talk about enough:
You can’t access your best ideas from a stressed, overwhelmed nervous system.
Creativity isn’t just about thinking harder or pushing through.
It’s about having the internal space to *receive* ideas, connect dots, and think clearly.
And that space is created in the body first.
In my work as a somatic-informed coach, I support individuals and teams to move out of survival mode and into a state of calm, focused presence — where innovation becomes natural, not forced.
Because when your system feels safe:
• You think more clearly
• You communicate more effectively
• You solve problems with greater ease
• You lead with confidence, not pressure
This is the foundation of my Inner Focus Employee Wellbeing Training for schools and organisations — helping people regulate, reset, and access their full capacity in a sustainable way.
Not by doing more.
But by working from a better internal state.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, foggy, or creatively blocked lately — it might not be a thinking problem.
It might be a nervous system one.
