Friends of La Alternativa,

First of all, we would like to share our best wishes for this new year. May this year brings you joy and peace ! At La Alternativa, 2021 couldn’t have started better : after few months of hard work and uncertainties, we are more than happy to tell you that we made it !!
Thanks to your support, to our friends and families, to the people we met on the land, we achieved our goal: we purchased the house and the land ! From now on we can definitely say that this adventure has started ! We are slowly improving many things around here: the path that leads to the house has been fixed, the garden is growing day after day, we had the pleasure to welcome our first chickens (and they already feel confortable as they’ve just lay their first eggs)... One step further to a self-sufficient lifestyle !
We are now organizing the next steps and the priorities of this year, the first being : welcoming you ! Construction and renovation sites will begin during the following months. We will of course keep you informed of the progress and the activities that will start. You are obviously more than welcome to join us and participate to the birth of the community ! We are grateful, beyond measure, and we would like to thank you once again for your support, your advices and your help. We couldn’t have done it without you. Now more than ever, people and planet should be put first. An alternative way of living, working, learning, growing exists...

We are happy to announce that we have extended the purchase compromise: now we have time until the beginning of January to find the remaining funds to acquire the land and making this project a reality.
Thanks to the donations and loans of each of you, we have already achieved an excellent result.
Finding finance is always a difficult process, but once we will reach the goal though it will bring even more satisfaction than just an easy goal.
This project is full of good intentions and ideas, rich in healthy principles and values, all of them respectful for the planet.
A place of meeting, sharing and cooperation.
La Alternativa is getting closer and closer !

A small - but essential - update on our work on the land: Here is our solar power system! 🌞Good green energy for the community! 🌞

Solar panels have been installed with four recycled batteries, providing enough energy for the light spots, the fridge and the washing machine during the sunny days. It is the first step towards energy autonomy!

The Sun in Spain is very generous, it helps us with its beautiful light and power; here on this earth so abundant we receive its daily gift.

We truly believe in self-sufficiency, in healthy and clean energy, and every day we work for it.

Our panels work well, today they allow us to perform some important actions in our daily life. We will work on improving the system in the future and have more sustainable energy for years to come, for the people who live here and for those who will come.

We are getting closer and closer to turn this project into a reality! Thanks again for your donations and your support. Hope to see your light and good energies soon at La Alternativa 🙏🏻

Update on our work on the land.
We have been working on the 2 entry paths to the land, we havestarted a small vegetable garden with tomatoes, green beans and watermelon. Alongside our apple and hazelnut trees, we have planted a couple of other fruit trees, as well as clearing some of the old farming land where the forest has regrown over them. The mains electricity supply has never been connected which will remain so, we have set up a basic solar panel system with two solar panels and four recycled batteries, this currently supplies the lights and fridge-freezer. There was no mains water supply, so we made a mission to cut a small path through the forest to run a water pipe from the water source all the way to the main house. So now we have a sustainable source of both water and electricity in the house and cleaner access and land for farming. ❤️🙏😍
