Have you ever noticed that your stomach seems to know when you're stressed before your mind has even caught up?

Stress can affect far more than our thoughts and emotions. The connection between the brain, nervous system and digestive system means that prolonged stress may also influence the way our bodies feel and function.

In my latest article, I explore why stress affects the digestive system, the powerful mind-body connection and why our bodies sometimes communicate what we may not yet have fully recognised emotionally.

If you've ever wondered why stressful periods seem to affect your stomach, digestion or appetite, this article may help you understand the connection a little better.

Have you ever wondered why grief hurts, anxiety causes stomach problems, or stress settles in your shoulders?

My latest article, Why Do We Store Emotions in the Body?, explores the powerful connection between emotions, the nervous system, and physical health.

Perhaps we don't literally store emotions in the body, but our experiences can shape our physiology in ways we rarely recognise. Understanding these patterns may help us approach healing with greater compassion and self-awareness.

You’re not stuck because you’re weak and you’re not failing because you don’t know better. So why do you keep doing the same things even when you know they’re not helping you?

Because this isn’t about willpower. It’s about your nervous system. Most people try to change at the level of thinking but real change happens deeper than that.

If you’ve ever felt trapped in patterns you can’t seem to break, this will help you finally understand why.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes nothing is wrong, but you still can’t relax?

You finally sit down at the end of the day, everything is quiet, and yet your body feels tense, your mind keeps going, and it feels as if something still needs your attention.

Many people think this happens because they think too much.
Very often, it’s the opposite. The body is already in a state of alert, and the mind starts looking for something to worry about.

I wrote a short piece about why the nervous system can stay tense even when life is normal, and why relaxing is not just a matter of telling yourself to calm down.

What if anxiety isn’t a mental problem at all? Many people who struggle with overthinking and constant tension actually have a nervous system stuck in survival mode. This article explains why anxiety doesn’t just disappear when life gets better and what is really happening in the brain and body.

Anxiety is a nervous system survival response. Learn why your body stays on alert and why calming down is harder than expected.

We say we value honesty but most people don’t actually want it; not from others and certainly not from themselves. Honesty threatens identity. It disrupts comfort. It exposes emotional avoidance patterns we’d rather not examine. From a psychological perspective, avoidance isn’t weakness; it’s protection. The nervous system interprets discomfort as threat but long term, denial quietly fuels anxiety, fragility, and stagnation. Emotional maturity begins where avoidance ends.
I wrote a deeper exploration on why we resist truth and how confronting it builds resilience instead of breaking us.
You can read it here:

Why we avoid honesty: the psychology of emotional avoidance, fear of vulnerability, and how facing truth builds emotional resilience.

Anxiety has a way of making everything feel personal. It can convince you that it’s just who you are and that you’re naturally “an anxious person.” But what if anxiety isn’t your identity at all? What if it’s simply a nervous system that learned to stay on alert, and never quite learned how to relax again? When we stop blaming ourselves and start understanding what our body has adapted to, something softens. I’ve written more about this gentle but powerful shift in my latest blog. I hope it brings some clarity if anxiety has been feeling heavy lately.

Anxiety often feels deeply personal, as though it defines who you are rather than something you experience. Yet, in this article we discover it is not.
