Why aren’t we talking about the difference between insight and healing?
Between information and wisdom?
Between narration and feeling?
In my 1:1 sessions, I stopped asking my clients how they’re feeling. Now I ask what they notice in their body.
Here’s why: most of the women I work with are excellent at insight.
They can narrate a feeling with real precision: where it started, why it makes sense, how it traces back to something years ago.
But explaining something and actually being with it are two very different things. Ironically, explaining can be a way of staying at a distance from what’s really there.
So I ask them to slow down and notice instead. A tight chest. Heat in the face. A breath they’ve been holding.
And often, what follows is silence.
That silence isn’t nothing. It’s where the feeling finally gets space to show up (instead of being talked around again). That’s usually where things start to move.
Slow down long enough to feel it, and the healing can actually begin.
