SCAR COVER-UP | BEFORE → SESSION 1 → SESSION 2

Did you know that tattooing over scar tissue is completely different from tattooing over normal skin?

Scar tissue can have a different texture, elasticity and ability to hold pigment. Some scars are raised, some are very thin, and some can be surprisingly difficult to work with. This means scar cover-ups require patience, careful technique and a design that works with the skin rather than simply trying to hide it.

For this project, we worked gradually over multiple sessions. The feather was designed to cover and distract from the scar while still looking like a natural part of the tattoo, rather than simply placing a dark patch over it.

With time, touch-ups and carefully placed highlights, the result can be incredibly subtle. In the right circumstances, scars that were once very noticeable can become surprisingly difficult to see within the finished tattoo. 🤍

But every scar is different, and results will always depend on the age, depth, texture and condition of the scar tissue.

A scar doesn't necessarily have to disappear. Sometimes, it just needs a new story.

COVER-UP & RESTORATION • IN PROGRESS 🖤

This one is a little different.

After multiple surgeries, my client was left with significant scar tissue running through her existing tattoo. Rather than trying to simply hide it, we decided to work with it and incorporate it into the new design.

With scar tissue, patience is everything. The skin needs a gentler approach, a steady hand and time. So we took it slowly, worked around the texture of the skin, and gradually brought new life back into the old tattoo.

This is only part one. ✨

Next session we'll make a few more adjustments, add some white highlights, and then continue touching up the design across the rest of her back.

It's not finished yet, but I already love where this is going.

And most importantly, we're turning something that once made her skin feel like a reminder of what she'd been through into something she can feel proud to wear. 🖤

Another lovely working day in my old hometown, Salinas. 🖤

This lovely client was visiting Spain on holiday and planned her trip perfectly: enjoy the sunshine, make good memories, and go home with a little piece of beautiful art to keep. ✨

This was actually her second session with me, and I'm so happy she came back for another one!

A delicate little butterfly behind the ear and a larger piece on the thigh, created especially for her. 🕊️🌿

And the best part?

There's more to come when she visits Spain again. 😉

I absolutely love when tattoos becomes an ongoing journey rather than just a one-time appointment.

Some tattoos carry a little more than ink. 🖤

This piece combines two powerful symbols of my client's Scottish roots: the Scottish thistle and a Celtic knot.

The thistle represents Scotland, resilience and strength, while the Celtic knot flows down from it like roots, symbolising heritage, connection and the generations that came before.

I love designs where the symbolism is woven into the artwork rather than simply added to it. Every line has a reason, and together they create something deeply personal.

A tattoo that doesn't just represent where you come from, but what you carry with you. 🌿

A little reminder from your tattoo artist 🖤

Something I think many people don't realize when booking a tattoo:

Your appointment doesn't start when you sit in my chair.

Before you arrive, I've already taken time to discuss your idea, prepare your design, make adjustments, plan my day around your appointment, prepare my workspace and materials, and keep that time exclusively available for you.

So when an appointment is cancelled at the last minute, it's not just an empty spot in my schedule.

It's hours of preparation that I've already put into your appointment, and a time slot that I can often no longer offer to someone else.

I know that sometimes things happen. Life happens, plans change and emergencies are unavoidable. I completely understand that.

But if you know you can't make your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible.

You don't have to feel bad about needing to reschedule. I'd much rather move your appointment to another day than have you disappear or cancel at the last minute.

I work with a lot of holidaymakers and I understand that plans can change while you're travelling. I'm flexible for that reason. 🤍

All I'm asking in return is a little communication and respect for the time that goes into every tattoo, even before you arrive.

Behind every appointment is a real person, real preparation and real time. 🖤

✨ Your tattoo doesn't have to be planned all at once.

This sleeve started with a single tattoo.

Then we added another. And another. And little by little, the arm evolved into a full sleeve. 🖤

There was never a master plan to fill the entire arm. We simply added pieces that felt right until the only thing left was the gaps.

Now we're one session away from completing the whole sleeve.

You don't have to walk into your first appointment knowing exactly what your entire arm should look like. We can start with one piece, see where it takes us, and build from there.
