Every year we hear the same question from new families:

"Why do families keep coming back for another assessment?"

Maty's family is probably one of the best people to answer that question.

They first came to ABR in 2017, travelling to Austria to see Leonid. When we started our Hungary visits in 2019, they simply continued there, and they haven't missed a yearly assessment since.

The reason is actually very simple.

The body doesn't stop developing.

Every year Leonid sees a different body, and every year that body needs something different.

During this year's assessment there were several lovely moments. One was hearing that the pain in Maty's leg has disappeared. Another was seeing how much less his back and shoulders now need to compensate compared to previous years. Those changes don't happen because of one exercise. They are the result of years of building a stronger structure.

The first video shows Leonid's assessment. The second shows Brigitta teaching the new home programme that Maty's family will be working on during the coming months.

That's really what these yearly visits are about.

Not repeating the same programme.

Understanding where the body is today, and deciding what comes next.

ABR on the way to school

A few days ago, a Spanish mum told me something I really liked:

“What worked best for us this year were the ABR stations. We even used the car journeys to school to place them on her hands.”

And this photo says almost everything.

Life is busy. School, work, appointments, travelling, family life… Finding a perfect hour to do ABR is not always realistic.

But they already had the car journey.

So they used it.

I asked whether they had already noticed changes in how she uses her hands. Her mum answered honestly: they are not sure yet.

And that is fine.

This is not a post about a spectacular result.

It is about finding a simple way to keep working, even during a very intense year.

They are now also trying to help her learn how to place some of the stations herself, so that little by little she can become more independent with her own ABR work.

This is one of the reasons I like these small ABR stations so much.

They are light.
They are simple.
And they can fit into real life.

Sometimes ABR does not need to stop your day.

Sometimes it can travel with you.

A few weeks ago, Easton's mother sent me a WhatsApp message.

"Hi Manuel... I wanted to ask if your daughter Any ever had severe itching after doing ABR.

Easton has developed really bad itching on his back, shoulders and hips.

It gets so uncomfortable before bed that we have to scratch him for about 30 minutes before he finally falls asleep."

My reply was simple.

"Do you have the ABR Fascia Gel? Please use it there.

Itchiness can be a very natural tissue response when we begin activating tissue layers that have been glued or dormant for a long time.

Eventually it disappears."

Three days later, another message arrived.

"Thank you for sharing! It is helpful to apply the Gel... no more itchy since."

The ABR Fascia Gel was never developed to "treat itching."

Its role is to support the fascia and connective tissue surrounding the muscles.

Sometimes, as tissues begin responding, families notice temporary changes. Every child is different, but stories like Easton's remind us that even small improvements in comfort can make a huge difference to everyday life.

🇭🇺 During Emma's first ABR assessment, Leonid said something that really stayed with us.

Emma is always moving.

Clapping.

Flapping.

Looking for movement almost all the time.

Most people would look at that and think:

"We need to stop those movements."

Leonid looks at it differently.

First, we need to understand why her body needs them.

Sometimes those movements are not the real problem. They are the body's way of compensating for a lack of deep structural stability. The body is working much harder than it should.

That changes everything.

Instead of trying to stop the movement itself, we try to give the body a better solution.

For Emma, that means helping her body build more stability, so over time it doesn't need to work so hard just to cope.

Emma is only two and a half years old and this week she came to her very first ABR assessment in Hungary.

Her parents arrived with many questions. After months of frequent epileptic seizures, Emma is finally enjoying a seizure-free period. Like any family, they want to know what comes next and how they can help their daughter move forward.

Yesterday was the first step.

We're grateful that Emma's family has trusted us to be part of that journey, and we're looking forward to seeing where it leads.

👐 The Hands That Care Need Care Too

A few weeks ago we asked Ann, founder of the Balance Arts Center in New York and an Alexander Technique teacher for almost 40 years, if she would share her experience using the ABR Fascia Gel.

She didn't write to me about pain.

She didn't write about a sports injury.

She told us about the beginning of a Dupuytren's contracture in the palm of her right hand. It was still in a very early stage, and she simply wanted to see if she could improve the quality of the tissues before it progressed.

After applying a tiny amount of ABR Fascia Gel several times a day, this is what she wrote:

"So far it is really helping a lot and the tight tissue is starting to lengthen out. It stays lengthened even if I don't use the gel every day. When I do use a tiny drop several times a day it really softens the tissue."

We are not saying that the ABR Fascia Gel treats Dupuytren's contracture.

We are simply sharing the experience of someone who has spent almost four decades working with people's movement and feeling tissue quality through her hands.

And it reminded us of something...

Parents and caregivers spend years lifting, positioning, feeding, supporting and helping others.

But very few of us remember to take care of our own hands.

Maybe they deserve a little ABR too.

🇭🇺 Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming back Victor and his family during our ABR assessment and training sessions in Hungary.

Victor's family is one of those families we've known for many years. Originally from Mexico and now living in Norway, they have travelled across Europe to continue their ABR journey. Whether the sessions are held in Austria, Spain or Hungary, they always find a way to be there.

Every year brings new challenges, new questions and new goals. That's why these assessment weeks are so important.

After a comprehensive assessment, Leonid reviews everything that has changed over the past year, answers the family's questions, refines the strategy and spends the day teaching every detail of the updated program.

This year, Victor's family is taking home the latest additions to the ABR approach, including the new Lollipop techniques, the updated heads set, improved integration of the ABR Fascia Gel, and new ways of getting even more from the vibro tools.

ABR has never stood still. Every year we continue learning, refining our understanding, and finding better ways to help families support their children at home.

Thank you, Victor and Telma, for your trust, your commitment and for being part of the ABR journey for so many years.

🇭🇺 ABR is back in Hungary!

Today we begin another two weeks of ABR assessments and training sessions with Leonid Blyum and our Hungarian coordinator, Brigitta.

These sessions are always something we look forward to. They are an opportunity to meet families again after another year of dedicated work at home, celebrate their progress, and prepare the next stage of each child's ABR journey.

One of the first families this week is Team Zétény, who started ABR in December 2023.

Over the past two and a half years, they have made steady progress. Better posture, improved stability, better head control, hand function and cognitive development are all part of their story. But perhaps even more important is what these changes have meant for everyday life.

Today, Zétény is more comfortable, easier to position, and his family tells us they are able to enjoy travelling, exploring new places and spending more quality time together. ABR has simply become part of their routine.

One answer from this year's annual questionnaire especially stood out to us.

When asked about their biggest concerns as parents, they wrote:

"We are not worried right now. We trust in positive things, and we keep moving forward slowly."

There may be no better way to describe what long-term ABR is about.

🇭🇺 Tomorrow it begins...

Our next two weeks of ABR Assessment & Training Sessions in Budapest are about to start.

Leonid Blyum, together with Brigitta, our Hungarian coordinator, will be welcoming families from Hungary and several other European countries.

This round of sessions brings some of the biggest practical improvements we've introduced in years. After being tested and refined during our Spain sessions earlier this year, they are now becoming part of the standard ABR approach:

✅ New ABR tool heads
✅ Improved use of CatWraps and ABR Stations
✅ Better integration of the ABR Fascia Gel with vibro techniques

☀️ A personal story from Manuel, father of Any Pascual...

"I discovered this completely by accident.

The gel came into our home because of Annie, not because of me.

But every summer, somehow, I end up using it.

I live in northern Spain, so we are not exactly famous for too much sunshine 😄

Still, every year I manage to get burned at least once. Usually when I think:

"I'll only stay outside for another 20 minutes."

And then 2 hours later...

You know the story.

Over the years I have bought plenty of aftersun products.

Some worked.
Some didn't.
Some got forgotten in a drawer.

But for whatever reason, whenever I get sunburn now, I reach for the ABR Fascia Gel.

I am not even sure when that habit started.

I just know that after a few summers of doing the same thing over and over, it became automatic.

The funny part is that every time I use it, Annie ends up with one tube less.

Fortunately she is usually willing to share. 😄"

One of the biggest frustrations recently for many ABR families has been this:

new massage guns are increasingly switching to screw-in attachments instead of the classic push-fit system.

And that means many of our ABR heads — including Superheads, Doubleheads and 4-pin heads — no longer fit properly on many of the newer models.

We were especially disappointed about this with the Bob and Brad A7, because we genuinely like this gun.

Its oscillation behavior and self-acceleration effect create a very interesting deeper but still well distributed impact during the ABR applications.

But now, some very good news.

One of our long-time ABR young adults and his team found a surprisingly simple workaround that allows the new Bob and Brad A7 to work again with our standard ABR heads.

And they kindly prepared this short tutorial video for the whole ABR community.

The solution is actually very simple:
• Remove the internal screw-in piece
• Wrap the ABR head with electrical tape
• Adjust until the fit is correct

That’s it.
