From August 19–22, 2026, HISP Ethiopia joined partners and stakeholders at Adama Colverdale Hotel for the 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 & 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗥𝗟 𝗘𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

This week, HISP Ethiopia joined colleagues from the Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia, UNICEF Ethiopia, World Health Organization, and other key stakeholders to review findings from the national and subnational Immunization Data Quality Review and Coverage Estimation (2018–2025).

The results show real progress made in immunization coverage, with a clear and actionable picture at the national, regional, zonal, and woreda levels.

Thank you for all the organizers and the team with dedicated commitment towards improving the data quality in immunization.

We look forward to seeing action taken on these findings.

𝗗𝗛𝗜𝗦𝟮 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 👨‍🎓

The 𝗧𝗮𝗥𝗟 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 for the South West Region pilot sites has successfully concluded after two productive days of learning and collaboration, held from 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟱–𝟭𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, in Mizan. The training was facilitated by HISP Ethiopia in collaboration with Imagine 1 Day.

The training brought together teachers, school directors, and focal persons to build their capacity in using the DHIS2-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗥𝗟 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺—from collecting and managing data to using it for informed decision-making that supports improved learning outcomes.

n July 4th 2026, HISP Ethiopia convened a productive iHRIS–DHIS2 Integration Validation workshop, bringing together technical experts and Ministry of Health stakeholders to review progress and advance the integration of two digital health systems. The integration is done building up on the interoperability readiness assessment undertaken with the Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia recently.

The meeting featured a demonstration of the interoperability solution and focused discussions on data synchronization, data quality, governance, and implementation priorities to enable health workforce data exchange to DHIS2. As Ethiopia advances Interoperability highway discussions, such integration efforts could be lesson learning experiences to unfold the potential of Local technology experts.

We are committed to advance interoperable health information systems and engage with stakeholders for more stronger health systems.

HISP Ethiopia participated in the Annual Performance Review Meeting of the RH/FP/AYH Desk with the Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia, Regional Health Bureaus, Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia (FGAE), partners, and other key stakeholders.

During the meeting, we presented our 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗛/𝗙𝗣/𝗔𝗬𝗛 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 initiative, demonstrating transformation from paper-based supervision and fragmented ODK tools to an end-to-end digital solution built on DHIS2.

The project began with a comprehensive desk review of the existing supportive supervision checklists, followed by harmonization, standardization, and digitization to create a streamlined and efficient digital workflow at every level. This transformation aims to improve data quality, timeliness, and the effectiveness of supportive supervision across the program.

We look forward to supporting the implementation of this solution and seeing the positive impact it will have on strengthening RH/FP/AYH program monitoring and service delivery.

HISP Ethiopia is proud to have participated in the DHIS2 Annual Conference 2026, from June 15 to June 18 where we had the opportunity to explore the latest advancements, innovations, and emerging use cases across the DHIS2 ecosystem.

The conference showcased how DHIS2 continues to evolve, with new developments supporting stronger data use, interoperability, analytics, and digital transformation efforts across sectors. It was particularly exciting to see the growing adoption of DHIS2 beyond health, including in education, where a presentation by the Education Minister of Nigeria highlighted its impact on strengthening education information systems and decision-making.

This year’s conference also demonstrated increasing interest in DHIS2-based solutions such as electronic medical records (EMRs) and other digital health innovations, reflecting the platform’s expanding role in strengthening health information systems globally.

We were also proud to be part of a large Ethiopian delegation, which provided valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing, exchanging experiences, and strengthening collaboration and working to advance digital systems in the country.

In addition, the conference allowed us to engage with partners and stakeholders on ongoing and future areas of collaboration.
