The Africa CDC Youth Programme’s Mid-Year Review Meeting (18–19 June 2026) brought together the Youth Advisory Team for Health and programme beneficiaries from across Africa for two days of reflection, collaboration and action.

Together, we assessed our progress, identified challenges and charted the way forward to ensure our work truly responds to the needs and aspirations of Africa’s youth. This gathering was more than a review, it was a commitment to accountability and a bold step toward aligning the Africa CDC Strategy for Youth Engagement and Participation in Global Health with the continent’s Health Security and Sovereignty Agenda.

Africa CDC is reaffirming its dedication to meaningful youth engagement and the operationalisation of at the country level.

Young people are not just at the table. They are co-architects of resilient health systems, driving Africa’s health future forward.

The Africa CDC Continental Consultative Workshop (15–17 June 2026) concluded successfully. A key outcome was the development of a roadmap for the Domestication of the Strategy for Youth Engagement and Participation in Global Health at the country level.

The roadmap outlines priority actions, country needs, partnership and coordination mechanisms, and implementation timelines to drive meaningful youth engagement in public health at the national level.

The Continental Consultative Workshop on the Operationalisation and Domestication of the Strategy is officially underway at Africa CDC HQ in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

Over the next three days, youth experts, delegates from African Union Member States, and key partners are coming together to accelerate youth engagement and leadership in public health across the continent.

This workshop is a unique platform to assess where we stand, share country-driven solutions, and chart practical pathways for implementing the Africa CDC Strategy for Youth Engagement and Participation in Global Health.

Today’s dynamic sessions spotlighted national policies, innovative youth-led initiatives, and the real challenges faced on the ground. Through powerful presentations and open dialogue, representatives from Ministries of Health and Youth are shaping a future.

We are building momentum for youth-driven change and resilient health systems.

We’re excited to announce the upcoming Continental Consultative Workshop on the Operationalisation and Domestication of the YES!Health Strategy, hosted by the Africa CDC Youth Programme in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

From 15–17 June 2026, youth experts, African Union Member States’ Ministries of Health and Youth, and key partners will unite to accelerate the implementation of the YES!Health Strategy at the national level. This is a unique opportunity to turn commitments into action and ensure young people are at the forefront of building resilient, inclusive health systems across Africa.

At the 9th , the Africa CDC Youth Programme plenary session ignited a powerful vision for youth engagement. Through the Africa CDC Strategy for Youth Engagement and Participation i Global Health 2025-2028, young leaders are stepping up; not just as participants, but as architects of Africa’s health future.

The message was clear: youth are driving innovation, shaping decisions, and championing sexual and reproductive health and rights at the heart of Africa’s development. Health security and sovereignty will be achieved by investing in youth-led solutions, bringing young people to the center of decision-making and implementation. Africa’s health security is not for youth; it is with youth, leading the way.

Bringing together leaders, scientists, policymakers, partners, and advocates, this year’s Reproductive Health Network Kenya in Mombasa, Kenya is spotlighting youth and strengthen collective action to advance adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights across Africa.

The Africa CDC Youth Programme will contribute to key discussions on the implementation of the Strategy, reinforcing the role of SRHR within Africa’s broader health security and sovereignty agenda.
