The pineal gland is called the “third eye” because of its location, structure, and spiritual symbolism.

1️⃣ Location in the Brain
The pineal gland sits deep in the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, almost in the middle of the head — similar to where a “third eye” would be imagined on the forehead.

This connection to light makes it similar to an eye.

In Hinduism, the “third eye” represents intuition and higher consciousness.
The sixth chakra, called Ajna, is located between the eyebrows and is believed to be the center of insight and awareness. Many spiritual traditions associate the pineal gland with this chakra.

The French philosopher René Descartes called the pineal gland the “seat of the soul.”
He believed it was the place where the mind and body interact.
