Our co-founder, Juha Hannula, recently shared a fascinating breakthrough from one of our Nucu families here in Finland that almost any tired parent can relate to.
A father was dealing with a exhausting routine: his 7-year-old son was waking up multiple times every single night.
Then came an accidental discovery.
One cold morning, the dad walked into the bedroom and realized a window had been left wide open overnight. The boy'sroom was chilly.
But when he looked at the bed, his son was fast asleep. In fact, he hadn't woken up a single time all night.
The Experiment
Then dad turned this into a week-long experiment, monitoring nights with the window open versus nights with it tightly closed.
The data from their Nucu sleep diary (as seen in "Heat curves.jpg") made the conclusion clear:
Warm Room: Led to high sleep fragmentation and multiple night wakings.
Cool Room: Triggered deep, consolidated sleep continuity.
The Fix: They permanently lowered the thermostat, bought a thicker, high-quality blanket to maintain the bed's optimal microclimate warmth, and instantly... everyone's sleep improved.
Why This Matters Right Now
As we head into the warm summer months, room temperature can be silent sleep disruptor. Human biology strictly requires a drop in core body temperature to enter deep, restorative recovery.
Having grown up in Toronto without AC in our house, trying to sleep in the summer was super brutal.
Do you really know how well your kid slept last night?
